Thought he was being used as a 2nd striker, playing under a Target Striker. If he's a wide player than that actually helps our lack of options at Wide Midfield.

He has been used primarily as a left winger at Schalke.

Good job by McKennie this weekend. Hope to see him against Pulisic next weekend.

After last weeks bad performance he gets the start. I was surprised by the this subbed out in first half and then the team got hot, expected them to come out with the same formation as second half. Good for him to put in a solid week of work to earn back his spot. That and todays performance will tell me more about him than a goal against Portugual.

Subbed off after 59 minutes not the best of performances

Commentators were discussing McKennie and the player who subbed in for him. Apparently the player subbed on has just recently returned to the squad after having battled back from some injuries. I get the feeling that McKennie was elevated to the starter this season due to injuries, and now that the players are returning Weston may move back to being the sub.
This isn't necessarily a bad thing for McKennie. He's gotten a taste of being the starter and will hopefully work hard over the remainder of the season to improve his level of play and show the manager & teammates that he can/will continue to contribute to the team even if it is as a sub.

Knee surgery out for at least 6 weeks. I doubt he makes the friendlies in March.

It is a partial MCL tear, not that bad as I first thought.
Just rest and recovery.

Could have been way worse (could have been an ACL tear like the same that happened to Zelalem). Fortunate.
