How this hasn't been posted yet I'm not sure. But Oguchi has signed with the Philly Union ahead of the upcoming MLS season. He's 34 and hasn't played since 2015. http://www.espnfc.com/philadelphia-union/stor...

Also Fafa Picault is supposedly close to signing with them as St. Pauli released him from his contract.

Wasnt mentioned because his time as an option with US team is long gone. Good for him to get a chance but Im betting he doesnt break camp with them.

You think Bruce wouldn't call him up if playing well? I do. I'm not rooting for or against it or anything. Just saying that 34 is not too old for a CB. Jones is older and runs all over the field. What's more concerning is that he hasn't played in so long. But if he finds form, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to Russia as cover for the CB's in front of him. I mean, it's Bruce Arena. C'mon. And I posted here bc this is the Philly forum. Unsure sure how not posting it bc he isn't currently with the USMNT is a reason for not posting a Philly signing in a Philly forum.

@kicks - While I've always been a fan of Onyewu; I personally think his time has passed. He's never been the same after his knee injury, he's 34, and we've got plenty of quality young players advancing quickly (Brooks, CCV, Miazga, EPB, Redding), and a number of experienced options (Cameron, Besler, Gonzalez, Birnbaum, Hedges).
If he has a good year w/ the Union I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a January camp call-up. But I can't see him making the cut with the "A" Team ever again.

One of my all time favorite players, I hope this works out for him. I can't see him getting anywhere near the MNT at this point. The Ukraine game in Cyprus was his international swan song and that was nearly 3 years ago.

That said, I hope he manages to earn minutes for the Union.

It seemed like yesterday I saw Gooch, Donovan, Convey, Beasley...

I was in the Gym at my alma mater and thought, wow, now finally have ballers on this team!

I still think they came through, we might feel a certain way about how stuff played out, esp wit Gooch, that guy played in 06 and got bits of 10. Always thought he was a solid defender. AC Milan thought enough of him to make him the first US player on their team. On the journey to establishing ourselves as a power, these are the milestones we get excited about. Rightfully so.

The 09 knee injury was devastating. Gooch was never the same again after that injury. The Confederations Cup knock-out rounds showed how good we could play. When Gooch & CD went down it drastically effected the dynamics of the team.

Heck yeah! To be fair I was also pretty excited about Alex Yi.

Officially announced his retirement. Good career particularly in Belgium, one wonders what more he could have done had he not blown out his knee in what was ultimately a meaningless game in the middle of his prime. At least now he has an official replacement for the "center back who doesn't take s*it from Mexicans" role.

The final stretch of the English league season is upon us, with several Americans on the verge of relegation with their teams.
