Another game and another win for Erik Lichaj and Nottingham Forest. He assisted for Nottinghams 2nd goal against Bolton today.

You have to think he may finally get that call-up from Klinsmann in September.

Defended well, and he has always been able to get forward. I believe back in 2011 he was rated as the fastest USMNT player for the Gold Cup team. Faster than Donovan.

For me Erik is well ahead of Chandler. Who is predicted to be on the bench for Nurnberg again this weekend.

Atm everyone is ahead of Chandler I would think with all his excuses to come to camp or injuries or whatever it may be. Lichaj should def get a look sometime now. Unfortunately its hard to criticize Jurgen decision as everything he has done has turned into gold. We need more LB and RB options that is the most unclear position on the roster. I dont mind Beasly as back up or even Fabian but both are now LM's more than LB. RB its Steve best option but way too old. Chandler only brings more question marks. Parkhurst plays no minutes Evan literally best clear options lol. I like what Evan has done but he gives us no attacking power from the back. Evans to me right at this moment is a solid start but I like him as a sub if we get Steve back

He certainly deserves it. I just don't see Jurgen's obscenely stubborn mind giving a new player a look at a WCQ. I would predict January camp.

Wasn't it about a year ago when Klinsmann said that Lichaj will get a look in the future but "now" just wasn't the right time?

Question: Has a player ever received his first callup under Jurgen for a WCQ camp?

I think the answer is no.

Chris Pontius did but he withdrew with an injury. It was last year.

Hmm, that was more of a desperation callup given the situation we were in. There is nothing desperate about the USMNT's situation in September. I still see Lichaj getting a January callup.

Odds are still heavily against Eric receiving a September call up. It defies logic, but that is the reality of the situation. I don't know if he will even be in the January Camp. Nottingham has matches that entire month and if he playing that well, they're unlikely to let him go. His situation kind of reminds me of Kljestan before Jurgen finally brought him in.

Kljestan played a position DEEPEST in talent. Eric plays TWO positions we are sorely lacking (RB and LB). Yes it defies logic.

Ahh. I guess we will have to wait for a friendly for Lichaj to get called in then.

Lichaj's speed, dribbling and throw in abilities always seemed like an asset when he played. He certainly made some dumb defensive mistakes last year, but no more than the rest of Villa's back line. I am glad to see him do well at Forest, I'm certain he will continue to improve. It's only a matter of time before he's back into the USMNT camp but I can't see it happening in the near future. He seems to be overlooked far to many times.

Lichaj could get called up in November for the possible austria friendly unless they are in WCQ playoffs then we face a different opponent. Also josh gatt would have had his first call up at a WCQ's camp if not for an injury along with pontius if you guys want to be given hope about a lichaj call up for WCQ's. I say why not call him up the team is just begging for rb and lb depth so why not call him up and take a chance on him.

Lichaj is not available for the January Camp-Cup-Cake. Since it takes place during Non-FIFA approved dates his club has no requirement to release him. If he's not called into Sept. or Oct. for WCQ's he won't be called until early 2014 (I think Feb.).
As it stands right now our RB's are:
1) Dolo - Still sidelined with knee injury
2) Evans - Plays CM for Club...converted to RB for USNT. Done well, but still a worry.
3) Chandler - Has been poor for his club as of late. Most recently benched.
4) Parkhurst - Did well in the GC, but doesn't see the field for his club. If he doesn't get on track soon at the club level will be out.
5) Beltran - Just isn't that good.

IMHO if Lichaj continues to put in solid performances for his Championship Club, JK and staff have to bring him into Sept. qualifier camp to at least evaluate him up close.
