Brad stands on his head again against Arsenal while earning a deserved 3-1 win.

I have to say Guzan versus Howard will be intriguing this year. I would not be surprised to see Guzan as the #1 keeper in the WC.

I cant see it. I just cant. As long as Timmy remains consistent he stays no. 1 until after the WC.

Problem for Guzan is that Howard has been great between the sticks for about 6 years now. You can't pull him unless the #2 is noticeably miles beyond. Guzan may be a shade better IMO but its not enough yet.

I'm with EKneezy, Howard either has to lose his spot at Everton or start playing poorly to be removed as our #1 keeper. Guzan will get the keys to the city after Brazil.

I can see it as well. Howard regained his form in the second half of last year after a rough first half, but if he were to slip up again this year and Guzan continues to impress, I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Guzan is a great keeper, no doubt.

Keeping the ball out of the back of the net, he's better than Howard. However, is there a worse keeper at distributing the ball? Everytime I watch him play it makes my stomach turn when the balls at his feet. It's his glaring weakness, and will keep him from moving to a better club, unless he improves.

Guzan right now is probably better than Howard, but Tim is still playing at a high level and you can't just bench him. I feel it would hurt the team chemistry since Howard is a leader on this team and he won't be happy. It's all Guzan after the World Cup.

Guzan in not clearly better than Howard. I would say they are pretty even. I see no reason to switch unless Howard has a deep run of bad form.

even if howard does have a difficult time getting into a groove this year for club, there's no denying that he comes to play when he reps the stars and stripes. While howard had a slightly better save percentage last year on shots on his toffee goal, Im willing to bet that guzans defense left him out to dry more often than howard's. (guzan had 185 shots on goal come his way with aston villas fullbacks doing some extra roaming, while howard had 130 last campaign). If howard does take another emile heskey to the ribs, we can rest easy knowing that we have quality ready at gk.

Admittedly he had a few distribution gaffes today. However, after watching him all last season I have to say that's actually a strength for him.

Personally I see Brad beating out Timmy by the WC. Timmy wasn't very good last year and seems to be slipping.

Guzan played extremely well but the ref completely changed the aspect of that game for anyone who watched. The second PK was an absolute terrible call and the same foul that koscielny was sent off for he chose not to send vlaar off on. I guess the officials are still in preseason form.

Guzan's distribution was a strength last year. I don't see him quite as good as Howard due to a lack of several years of high playing time. Last year was his first as a starter. Howard had more consistent years of playing to make a statistically accurate assessment of his abilities.
