With Altidore possibly sidelined, I would like to see this:

-------Deuce----lando--------
Fabian----------------Zusi-------
-------Jones----Bradley-------
Beas-----Bes-----Gonzo-----Cameron
-----------Howard-------

Just makes sense to pair up Deuce and Lando in a 4-4-2 against Costa RIca

Iceman, EJ, Brooks as the 3 subs.

Don't think we will see that. take out Zusi and throw in either AJ or EJ. I can see why Zusi starts but I would hope we would get a little more offensive and push for an early goal with the speed of the other options then just hope for a cross from the channel. Zusi kills the combination play he is not quick enough. I would like someone more direct like AJ even have EJ test the backline with his speed.

Hey its not the end of the world if Jozy can't play he is someone we can replace we have DEPTH now. The reason why I'm not worried is Jozy really relies on service and when he doesn't have it he rarely scores (for example look at his time at sunderland or before the national team moved FJ up to left wing) he doesn't always create his own goals, he needs someone to play off of like Maher at AZ. I would like to see AJ up top and shift Landon shifted back to the right. AJ is really great at creating a shot for himself imo better than Altidore can. You could also have Clint poaching leading the line and have Lando or AJ slip oin behind him so we have a lot of diffrent ways to go.

First I just want to say that I think a back four of Licaj Brooks Besler Cameron could really work well, which I hope we get to see that at some point this year. Now onto this roster.

I just dont think Eddie Johnson is much more than a late game sub to test the opposing teams D with his speed and set piece ability. As a 90 minute player he fades hard in games and when he doesnt he has to pace his self so much that he becomes pretty much useless in the run of play. AJ should start, let Jozy have an extra couple days before Mexico.

Fabian should always be penciled in as the LM. His crossing, ability to make runs, and creating space for everyone else is a priority. He widens the field and against a team like CR width is a great thing.

Pretty good options off the bench, a lot of versatile players and players who can add different things. All in all Im more curious about whether Klinsmann goes for the point or win in CR and how that affects his plan for Mexico. Should be interesting.

It's this kind of stuff that's going to make us the strongest squad in the world (assuming that we can continue our development as a soccer nation) in the next 20-30 years. I've not heard of anyone else in the world having to put up with antics like these, and these are the normal issues we deal with when playing CONCACAF opposition...being able to ingrain mental toughness into our overall psyche and philosophy will help us in continuing to punch above our weight in terms of individual skill versus playing as a team.

This is awesome if all true and not exaggerated. We're going to smack CR 3-0.

For CR, this is just bushleague. I hope we just destroy them, no mercy. Hell, even if we don't, it's not as if we'll care THAT much. There's a point of ridiculousness that some people are willing to pass......

Out of those 3 guys, you think Zusi is more likely to kill the combination play!? Go back to the Honduras game and watch EJ and Zusi on the wings. Tell me who ALL of our offensive chances were created through. I'll give you one hint, it wasnt EJ.

I think AJ should start up top if Jozy cant go, but Klinsmann probably doesnt "trust" him yet. So I think EJ will. Aron is easily a better overall player.

-----AJ------
Fabian--Demps---Donovan
---Bradley--Jones---
Beas-Besler--Omar-Cameron

Subs: Zusi, Brooks, Mix/Becks(depends on the score)

i kind of hope ME J starts - not because i like him but it gives him a chance to put his money where his mouth is. if he plays really well he cements his spot on the team. if he does not, it then really opens up opportunities moving forward not only for AJ, but also boyd (4 goals in 428 min this season - AJ has 4 in 452).

I really hope Lando starts. Not because I don't like Zusi, but because Lando will open up so much more space for Deuce to work in. The opposing defense won't be able to collapse 3 or 4 players onto Deuce because Lando will represent a very true offensive threat for the defense. Zusi does not carry as much weight as an offensive threat as Lando does.

We all know Landon should start, but isn't it ridiculous that we would not be surprised if he didn't?

Only because Jurgen likes to tease us. Donovan making his first team "debut" against Mexico would fire him up I'm sure. But I'd like to wax the hell out of Costa Rica and our chances would be better with Donovan. I still want him under Jozy, but I'd be perfectly okay with him out wide.
