12 wins in a row - no use 2nd guessing her klinsmann at this point, so ill just guess what he does

--------altidore------
-------dempsey------
donovan-----------zusi
-----bradley--jones-----
fabian-besler--gonzo-evans

this is the 11 now, yes?

for those looking for other players, you kind of have to root for some of these guys to stumble a little. under microscope:
- gonzo
- evans
- jones
- zusi
- dempsey - i know people, even JK have an eye on AJ to partner jozy. can dempsey still go wide if need be? (can AJ?) at this point in his career im just not sure. LDs versatility should make him an easy pick. sluggish offense in sept. and captain deuce will be under a bit of pressure

if this group beats CR then takes home WCQ with a dos a cero special in c-bus, this is probably your group for brazil

i think we hit a little turbulence in september and the door creaks open for guys like
- brooks
- chandler/dolo
- cameron
- kljestan
- AJ

big, big game down in costa rica

You really think that even if this squad you put forth wins both Sep WCQ's, that it's the starting XI for 2014? There is...so much time between September and June. Even if they do win both, I would be truly baffled if that exact same XI lined up in Brazil next year.

i think that, with qualification settled, those guy are strong front-runners. they would somehow have to lose their jobs with very few match days and none that really matter before heading to brazil

saying that it will be their jobs to lose

Icebacon has the versatility (and pace to attack/defend) to play out wide. Dempsey should stay in the middle since Bradley and Jones (hopefully Cameron instead) will be in the defensive midfield to provide cover for his lazy defending.

You guys really need to start looking for these prior threads before constructing new ones. This same topic was constructed on Wednesday.

if there was a prior "starting 11 v costa rica" thread is way mysteriously deleted. bummer

i do see a "roster for next camp" (essentially) for those who want to comment on that!

My starting 11 would look like this

--------Jozy---AJ-----------

----LD----MB----JJ----CD----

--FJ--Brooks--Besler--Chandler/Dolo---

-----------Howard-----------

After a couple starts in the Bundsliga and being snubber for the Bosnia match Chandler finally gets his chance and accepts the call up and will play very well. Dolo will be healthy and will come in around the 65th to show his stuff. It's september and the WC is looming. Time for JK to start developing chemistry for our starting national squad. Barring injuries, knock on wood.

There is no losing with talent like this. With weapons like Donovan, Dempsey, Johanssen, Fabian Johnson, Eddie Johnson, and Graham Zusi AND Jozy Altidore, how is a loss a significant possibility.

Because all the players you listed are mids or forwards...

Best 11 IMO
-------Altidore
Johannsson Donovan Fab
-----Bradley--Jones
Beasley Brooks Besler Cameron
Best back 4 in my opinion since I think Beasley and Fab are about the same defensively and Fab is slightly better than Zusi. Brooks Besler Cameron as a back three is as solid as we can ask for. Speedy athletic and all good in the air. Beasley is back there for his speed. Dempsey for Donovan and Mix for Jones.

What I expect to see
-----Altidore
Donovan Dempsey Zusi
Bradley Jones
Fab-Brooks-Besler-Evans

Nothing wrong with this lineup but I just think Fab is better for the team in the MF somewhere.

Klinsmann starting 11

Altidore
Fabian Dempsey Donvoan
Bradley Jones
Beasley Gonzo Besler Evans
Howard

What I would like to see
Altidore
Fabian Donovan Dempsey
Bradley Cameron
Beasley Brooks Besler Evans
I still dont think jones is the answer in midfield bradley plays much better higher up the pitch. I think cameron does best cleaning up in cdm. Evans will at right back until cherendulo is healthy. Not sure what is going on with chandler hopefully he can get it together. I think donovan would be best suited right behind altidore with dempsey attacking from the right and switching with donovan when you need crosses in the box. At centerback I think brooks has shown better then gonzalez. I havent been impressed with gonzo i think its more belser responsible for our good cb play then gonzo.Even with brooks liability on headers I think he has become solid in the air. Anyways I think klinsmann has his starting 11 down with donovan coming on for zusi who is coming off an injury.

Starting 11? My guess Klinsmann may make one surprise starter i.e. Brooks or Johannsson. Other than that there probably won't be any surprises.

My starting XI is like this:

Altidore

Fabian Johnson Dempsey Donovan

Bradley Cameron

Beasley Besler Brooks Evans

I dont like having Evans back there but he did not call up Parkhurst

JK has said that Fabian is playing on the left wing and DMB is left back because they are so interchangeable. But he admitted he liked FJ at the wing

Cameron needs to start over Jones. Nothing against Jones but Bradley is better in the attack than Jones and Cameron is defensive minded so he can play back there while Bradley pushes up.

EJ and Beckerman cannot get the start!!! I think if we need a goal or if Dempsey is not performing well JK pulls him and switches to a 4-4-2 with AJ joining Jozy up top. The next game though is Clint's 100th cap so JK has to play him
