Good call. He is barely on the plane to Brazil for me.

I don't think Diskerud is overrated at all actually. He merely possesses something not many players in our pool have: creativity. He's not that great, but definitely an asset in Brazil.

Most overrated player among most US fans(albeit uneducated ones) is Dempsey.

By that last line's logic, wouldn't that suggest that Sacha shouldn't come to Brazil?

sacha's resume is superior to most guys that will make the team

- success with U23s (qualified for olympics)
- success in MLS (all-star, etc.)
- successful move to better league than MLS
- 3 consecutive seasons playing regularly in europa/UCL (UCL last 2 seasons)
- 2 consecutive league titles in europe
- career 40 goals / 54 assists (club + country)
- 45 USMNT caps (maybe 20 or so 1st team starts) - you dont get that many CAPS without proving yourself; of current squad only jozy, beasley, bradley, dempsey, LD, howard and EJ have more (gooch as well)

i think sacha has proven himself - to everyone except JK and many/most USMNT fans

most under-rated US player? no contest

That's his club resume. How impressive is his international resume?

Rain,

You're funny. JK is the one that matter most, and many/most USMNT are the only one who care :-)

I am still waiting for the SB article to break stating that rainORshine is acutally Sacha K., a masterful self-promoter... who still fell short of the plane to Brazil.

...Daniel Williams and Reading continued heating up with a 5-1 demolition of guests Blackpool.

The midfielder led all players with four tackles in the match, allowing the Royals to run free early and often. In addition to ably handling his usual defensive midfield duties, Williams drew a good save from 20 yards just before the hour mark. With three wins in four, sixth-place Reading pulled clear in the race for the last promotion playoff spot.
...

williams > jones

edu @ philly > jones @ nowhere

without a transfer / loan and PT, jones does not even belong in 23. things are about to get really interesting for JK... stick with his boy JJ or start making some sensible decisions...

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that if the price is right, FCD would be happy to take him. We've been without a clearly defined, stalwart CDM since Daniel Hernandez retired. Take him on a 3 year deal, we need an older voice to help out all the academy kids that we'll be likely to sign to homegrowns in the next couple of years.

Feilhaber v Diskerud

who do people want to start v SK?

Feilhaber had played in both bundesliga and EPL by the time he was 24
Diskerud still plays in norway (and turns 24 this year)

WC 2010
with BF on field - US 4 scored; 1 conceded
with BF on bench - 1 scored; 4 conceded

2013 season
feilhaber - 3 goals, 6 assists; MLS Cup winner
diskerud - 3 goals, 1 assist

seems like people favor diskerud. anyone have a valid explanation? played well in gold cup? people think feilhaber would not have played as well?

i can understand why people might like diskerud, but i dont understand why they like him more than guys that are clearly playing at a higher level...

Being that I'm new, would like to drop a comment on the theme of this thread with respect. I did skim through some earlier pages and then read the last few.

As for Bradley, I have no question that he is our mainstay CM. As for Jones, I'm not comfortable with. I would like to see Bradley and Donovan as CM's. Now that we have some other good options for RW gives us the ability to use Donovan and Bradley as a strong center for distribution and creativity.

I think most people feel that the ship has sailed for Benny on the national stage, or at least he has reached his full potential. The perception is that Mix is still improving.

That being said, I think Benny still has a shot at the 23 and seeing time in Brazil. Klinsmann has taken a look at him here and there and flat out told him and the press that he like's Benny's game, but he needs to assert himself better in the middle and control the ball. If Klinsmann see that, I think he keeps calling Feilhaber in.

this statement encapsulates mindset of 95% of US fans. once a guy reaches full potential, people lose interest

benny at full potential >> mix at ??? potential

heres the thing, benny had been playing in bundesliga and EPL at 22/23, while mix is in norway. dont see why people think mix really has all that much potential

WC is in june, time to start making decisions on where guys are at right now instead of what they might do some day

ill be disappointed if benny does not get at least 45 mins

Good post Rain. I've wondered for quite some time why Benny has been ignored. I understand that he used to lack consistency but so do a lot of players on our roster.

Diskerud may have more upside but that remains to be seen. As it stands, I'd rather see Feilhaber play.

so jones has been injured but what happens when he returns? besiktas has won their last 4 games... have a hard time seeing someone who never played a minute for the club suddenly getting much PT.

what is the fascination with jones, anyway? he used to be a good bundesliga player back in the day?

he was terrible all fall, his best days are behind him and he has never been a good match for MB90

---kljestan--bradley----

those who are still on board with JKs bradley / jones combo are clearly under some sort of JK jedi mind spell
