I thought the whole Gold Cup was blooding in the "plan B" guys...Beckerman, Sacha, Mixx...those three are almost guaranteed a spot in Brazil unless one gets hurt or one of the younger fringe guys blows the collective minds of Klinnsy and the USSF in the next few months.

Seriously? How many cms do you think we're going to bring? Only 2 of those 3 plus any other potential guys will be brought (1 could be cameron if dolo and chandler are our RBs). Calling them locks is ridiculous

Correct, those 3 are definitely not locks for Brazil.

At least it's nice that Rain admits Bradley/Jones is plan A.

a "plan B" would be some combo including bradley, other than bradley/jones ... jones is the issue. bradley is a lock

we have seen kljestan paired in CM (not CAM) with bradley ZERO times. we have seen beckerman or mix paired with MB in a CM combo exactly ZERO times in 2013.

why do people STILL think cameron is a good option? because we actually saw that combo. ONCE!!! ONCE more than any other reasonable combo. and it was better than bradley / jones. just think if you actually paired bradley with another CM not named jones - kljestan and/or williams being the best options

gold cup was basically a b team - sacha did not play... nor did bradley (or williams or cameron) or just about every other 1st team option - basically a chance for fringe guys to make an impression against terrible competition

with bradley in toronto and jones' situation up in the air...

US CM (who is actually playing) ; best league; best team

kljestan; belgium (top 10 in europe); anderlecht (2nd in belgium)

any complaints?

or are people going to make the ridiculous argument that sacha actually took a step down moving from chivas to anderlecht?

this is not an argument that sacha is the best CM, just wondering if we all agree that sacha's club situation is better than every other US CM... and that his production (8 goals / 2 assists in belgium and UCL this season) is far superior to every other US CM

?

So Bradley moves to the MLS and all of a sudden SK is the best center mid?

That is Rain's hint, I am glad he (and his ideas) will probably get NOWHERE near Klinsmann

I know right, its his idea that Klinsmann should be fired because SK is not getting enough time with the Nats.

so you prefer jones i presume? i think jones used to be a good player who never was a good fit with MB. even if you like jones you obviously need a plan B, which JK failed to identify in 2.5 years

i guess there ARE still people who feel that sacha does not and never did deserve a legit chance this cycle

wow. just wow

Rain, lets play a game. Let's say Jones is a lock... Who would you start, MB or SK? Those are you only options. Just curious, don't say both because I know that's your first thought.

interesting insight:

in recent espn interview (with roger bennett) JK specifically characterizes bradley and jones as "6's"... as opposed to 8s.

semantics really, but i, and i think just about everyone on here, would peg both as 8s

given that he obviously views bradley as primarily a defensive mid, curious that he has absolutely no interest in even TRYING to pair him with more of an offensive-minded CM - a true 8... kljestan

MB with 10 games in 2013:
- 7 times a strait MB/JJ pairing
1 time each:
- williams / bradley / jones
- edu / bradley
- cameron / bradley

JK states he wants to play possession/attacking football but clearly his assessment of MB and JJ as 6's and his decision to go with williams, edu and cameron - all pure DMs - in he other games reveals his true intentions... stack the middle of the field with destroyers

ZERO interest in even TRYING kljestan - an attack-minded CM/8

the saddest part is that there are actually USMNT fans who think this is a scary idea - and also have no interest in even seeing it
