I think people should come to the conclusion that Cameron at DM was a one time thing and he'll be used there unless we're in seriously dire straits.

He finally played at RB and did well. I want him there.

You're prolly right, but I'm not on this message board to guess what Klinsmann is going to do. I like to give my opinion, like every sports fan does.

If a defender can pass, then moving him to a DCM role isn't really that drastic of a move. Cameron is a better passer than most of our CMs, including Kljestan.

Another reason why I like Cameron is because Bradley had his best performance when paired with him. A lot of our players had a good game with that central midfield. It was easily our most complete team effort of the year.

How Rain considers that a joke of an idea is well, a joke in itself. May I remind you he hadn't played DCM prior to the Panama game, either.

But hey Rain, let's keep pressing for Kljestan to start, even while given 184 more minutes of opportunity and has produced practically nothing.

Terrific run by Kljestan allows his teammate to play a simple pass to him which allowed him to score on an open net. Smart run, not a difficult goal but have to give him credit for making the run and being in the right spot.

This isn't necessarily a suggestion, and I know it's probably not possible, but does anyone know of Bradley's capacity to be an attacking midfielder? This is purely for my knowledge only.

I don't think he has the dribbling ability/ability to beat a player one v one to be an attacking mid. Or the speed (though that's not to say that's a requirement for that position). I think he serves the MNT in the greatest capacity exactly where he is.

He did play as an attacking mid at Herenveen. He definitely isn't a natural #10, but some teams these days put a box-to-box midfielder as the #10 in a 4-5-1 (City did this a lot of with Toure under Mancini), especially if the make one of the CM's a deep-lying playmaker (Javi Garcia, for example). I remember reading this article on the subject: http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/espnfcunited/id...
And there's another article on the subject here: http://backpagefootball.com/the-rise-of-the-p...

Could Bradley play that role? We're so desperately short on attacking midfielders that I wouldn't mind seeing it. We tried it once a long time ago (I think it was one of Klinsmann's first games in charge, I remember Edu also playing) and it did not work. But maybe we should try it again. I doubt we will though because Bradley has been playing as that #8 for us for so long that Klinsmann might not want to change a good thing.

I just was wondering if by putting Bradley in that role their may be room to play Sacha, Jones, and Bradley. Could be wrong in my interpretation, but it seems like it could work. Dovan on the right, Fabian on the left. Altidore up top and AJ as the versatile sub. Maybe it could work. I doubt he'd try it, but it would be fun to play in FIFA.

So now we want to take Bradley out of his best position? I think you guys are seriously losing the plot here...

big win for schalke - beating basel to advance to KO round of UCL. jones did not dress. injured? or just realize how much better they do without him?

games jones has started: 3-5-6; -11 GD
games JJ did not start: 8-0-2; + 12 GD

It did help that Basel went down to 10 men in the 31'. Also, this past weekend they lost without Jones making it off the bench.

Funny you didn't report the loss over the weekend without him, but now that they win you are so quick to report an update.

Again, not being Pro-Jones here, just trying to point out your obvious desire to be quick to post all things negative but slow to post positives/neutrals.

duly noted. loss to gladbach over the weekend schalke was down to 10 in first half. all evens out with enough data.

overall the info tells us that schake is much stronger when jones has not played

end of year / winter break... seems like a good time to bump this thread

schalke with and without jones starting...
games jones has started: 3-6-6; -11 GD
- 3 wins in 15 starts
games JJ did not start: 9-0-2; + 14 GD
- won 9 of 11 with jones not in starting line-up

jones ranked by bild at 229 of 234 eligible bundesliga players

unlike many american soccer fans german football teams devour objective information and unless the reason for jones' poor 1st half of season was some sort of nagging injury that is able to properly mend over the break, likely fewer and fewer minutes for jones in the winter / spring

as already established jones is not a great compliment to MB even when in top form

at this point i see at least 3 better options for USMNT:
3) williams - has become fixture for reading, who sit 1 point off promotion playoff spot. would gladly hold down DM spot, allowing MB more freedom to roam. his 2 assists this season are twice as many as diskerud had in all of 2013...

2) kljestan - easily 2nd best CM in the player pool. 8 goals on the season, 54 career assists. another season of UCL behind him. pre-JK era he established himself as very good compliment to MB

1) both williams and kljestan in 3-man middle

--kljestan-bradley--
---williams---

happy new year! (how bout a new years resolution to all play nice?)
