The fact Johannsson's been injured regularly over the last four years (hasn't played even one season's worth of games total in a four year span) is kind of important.

Aron Johansson looks like he may be ready for selection for Werder Bremen. Could be a big boost for Werder since he can play multiple attacking positions, and if he stays healthy a big if..... could be a big boost for the USMNT. He can play striker or as a wide fwd.

I'd still call him up over Zardes

Both Johansson and Sargent could get some run here before the end of the season and I think both should be Gold Cup players if healthy I think they are the two most technical forwards we have. Johansson deserves to just play some games and stay healthy it's been a struggle. But technically he's always been starved for a guy like Berhalter who looks to maximize a players ability.

Still have a feeling Sargent and Weah will both be with the U20's. The u20's lack strikers.

It's fine if that's what the coach wants to do but the attacking options right now are Arriola and Zardes who could both use help and or an upgrade. Even if they went to Poland in May I think they still could do the Gold Cup team after that.

Zardes has proven to be a solid #2 or #3, I don't get all the hate? I like Kevin Bacon as much as anyone but he hasn't proven anything to be considered before Zardes. I would like to see him get some regular minutes for his club before we consider anything.

I keep asking the question how has Zardes proven to be a #2 or #3, without even giving Wood, Nova, Sargent a chance?

Wood is one of our possible #1 guys. He certainly needs to be brought in. Sargent didn't look great with the u23's, he needs more time with his club. I certainly would also like to see Nova brought in. Zardes has played 4 matches under GB and IMO proven that he can hold his own if our regular starter is injured, needs a rest, etc.

Uhm. If we want to reach deep into the u20 tournament neither would be available for the Gold Cup in June. U20 WC starts at the end of May and lasts until the middle of June. Essentially you are asking two kids to go to one tournament and then go immediately to another tournament?.?.?. Highly doubt that happens.

I've heard many things from many people including Berhalter and other saying they won't go to the u20 World Cup at all (I would love to see both there myself, but we will see... Tab never quite gets who he wants...) but at this point none of us know.

My point is if Johansson plays he should get a look if he is healthy and fit. He has always been a technical player and I would think he could even complement Zardes (who let's face it needs many chances to score and a clinical passer like Johansson can find Zardes) or even play the role Pulisic has been in since everyone thinks Pulisic should play wide (not me though) and we can get more better attackers on the field.

Calling for technical players for the USA is nothing new it's just now we have a coach who will look to use those guys. This is a Johansson thread so I'm keeping it there....

For those who don't want to see Johansson (if he's healthy) I wonder why not? Seems we need better attackers after what we've seen in these games (lots of possession not enough ideas and not clinical enough) and I think this is one player that would really shine in Berhalters system.

If Berhalter's first 2 camps are any indication, he's largely not interested in technical players or Euro players

I don't agree. He has chosen MLS players by and large I'll agree there... but the players like Mihailovic, Lima, Baird, Roldan are the more technical players in comparison to say Reggie Cannon, Dwyer or Canouse for example. I'll wait until June to actually worry.

Like if he will call Mihailovic for the "10" how can he not call Johansson? (If fit obviously)
