I think it's put up time for the two younger MLS guys: specifically Zardes, and to a lesser extent, Morris, who has a little more time.

After these two games against Guatemala we will have two Friendlies just a few days before the the start of the Copa. Your player pool is likely theForwards on the Guatemala Roster + Morris.

If a guy like Bruin continues to score at the pace he's been scoring he might force his way into the mix but that seems unlikely as it is still early. For all other Forwards they better play lights out between now and May or it will probably be too late for them.

skangles - I hope your wrong regarding "player pool is likely the forwards on the Guatemala roster + Morris." Wondo has no use or purpose being involved with the national team at this point. The Copa is not directly related, nor does it have any influence towards the World Cup, qualifiers, or anything of significance beyond bragging rights. This is why the Copa is a prime opportunity for young players to be exposed/integrated into the National Team. They don't have to play, but the experience gained by participating in training with the USNT for 20-30 days could significantly advance their development.
I'm fine having some of the older vets (Howard, Dempsey, even Jones) participating to provide experience and provide leadership, but Beckerman, Wondo, and some of the other dead ends need to be cut in order to give opportunities to the next generation.

If I had to guess today, I'd expect Morris to take Wondo's spot and that the five forwards will be Dempsey, Jozy, Wood, Zardes and Morris. I'm not sold on Zardes just yet but Juergen loves him so you know he'll be there if healthy.

Depends if we qualify v Colombia. There would go Morris' spot, who in my opinion has lost momentum with Jürgen and many fans, myself included. He now has to play better than the other MLS guys: Zardes, Bruin, Wondo, Agudelo, etc. The fact the kid stayed in America he has to show it on the field. As for Gyasi Zardes, he really needs to show something. A full year on the Usmnt, it's that time. But is he a wide player or a striker?? Who knows, and really, with the emergence of Wood, who cares??

i would chill with morris. Not ready to throw him in under the bus. This is the same thing we started with Bobby wood 2 years ago. These players have an edge to them things you cant teach. Morris 21 and still the beginning of MLS. Not many go into MLS as a 1st year with the pressure his gone with.

Funny, I was watching the Iceland match today and was thinking "Man, maybe he should've gone with them." Although I don't think it matters who he picked. It looks like he's just gonna be one of those oft-injured players.

While I hope that Johannsson makes a full recovery and gets back to a point where he can contribute to club & country I am less worried about the US attacking options than I am regarding other areas of the US team. Once Johannsson does return he'll still have to compete with Jozy, Dempsey, Wood, Pulisic, Zardes, Morris, Rubin, Agudelo, Manneh, and Gyau & Green (if they get transfers/loans this off season).
Biggest concerns for me are backups/depth for the outside backs. We don't really have anyone who is challenging Fabian & Yedlin at the fullback spots....we don't even have players who are really quality options as backups if they're injured or out on cards.

Aron Johannsson = Iceland's Giuseppe Rossi

Hoping for him to have have a speedy recovery. Never forget how many league games I watched of him when we found out he was a dual national.

Hoping my two favorite players get back to full health ( Johannsson and Boyd).

+1, I had the same thought and then I was pretty excited about Aron reintegrating to the team as it stands now. Sigh.

I'm not buying that Kenny Saief isn't in your top two favorite players.
