I thought Aron's runs off of Dempsey were great especially since they havent played together very often. Aron realized that if Clint is in the lineup then Clint is our #1 option and he adjusted his game accordingly. His finishing needs a bit of polishing but I liked the Clint Aron partnership up top.

I think they are a little too similar. Yea they have recognition and adjust, but I'd like to see either Morris or Wood (because of their speed to get in behind) paired with a Dempsey or Johansson.

I would like to see all three of them in a 4-3-3 just for shits (Dempsey playing behind them)

Thrilled about this. The Bundesliga is the perfect fit for him and it's great to see him try and move up to the next level.

I was referring to the rumor that Juan Agudelo turned down an offer from Werder because he wanted to play in England.

If that is true, he is one of the most misinformed athletes on the planet. Does he even follow soccer? Who advises these kids?

I couldn't remember where the rumor came from so I just looked into it. Likewise I find it difficult to believe that Juan could have been so foolish and figured there was a good chance that the rumor was false but it actually looks like a rumor that has some legs to it.

This from Jeff Carlisle, "Agudelo has been linked with several of European sides since then, including Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, but a desire to play in England saw him turn that deal down as well."

Also Bshredder added this on Twitter "Brian Sciaretta

If Juan Agudelo rejected Werder Bremen for Wolverhampton (contingent on obtaining citizenship in Cyprus via property acquisition)...just wow"

I may be in the minority and will likely take a lot of shit for it, but I don't think Dempsey's style of play works well with the new guys coming up (Wood, Morris, etc...). They tend to be high press and quick moving attackers while Dempsey likes to slow things down way to much these days. As much as I like Dempsey we need to start looking at him as a super sub after the Confederations Cup play-off. It's to late to change over before the Oct. game, but we need to start thinking about life beyond Dempsey and that should start sooner rather than later. Our first round opponents for WC qualifiers (outside T&T) should be the perfect time to start phasing him to the bench.
A front line with a combination of Johannsson, Morris, Wood, Agudelo & Zardes and a Midfield of Bedoya/Mix Bradley and Williams could be very effective.....

---Wood----Agudelo/Zardes----Morris---
----Bedoya/Mix--------Bradley----
---------Williams---------

The speed and interchange would be very dynamic. Add Jozy, Boyd, & Johannson to the mix and the team could mix things up a bit based on the opponents. In time the midfield would be bolstered by the additions of Hyndman, Zelalem, etc.... if Bedoya starts to slip or if Diskerud doesn't get his act together.

I feel the same way Dave, but ultimately it's not an easy declaration. To come out and say that a Dempsey led team, with a team exclusively servicing him, will not be as successful as a team powered by Bradley. But notice how the verbs are different in those statements.

I think what's harder to admit for JK is the fact that Dempsey and Bradley together just don't work. And that isn't a complaint or task against JK. And it shouldn't be taken as one against Demps either. We're talking about swollen cojones region. If he were to come out directly and say it, it would be public suicide. To say that our two best players are best suited away from each other.

Agudelo? Are you guys even paying attention to him this year? Dude has been a bench player for the better part of three months. He has been Davies backup for the Revs.

If anything Davies should be in that equation right now not Juan.

Lol weren't you the one all excited about Agudelo ?? Calling him our best forward and most talented player in our team. I knew he was gonna fall off sooner or later he has issues and other problems.. I like Davies and all but doubt he gets a call up unless he starts tearing up the league with huge numbers, every time I see him play it seems he lost a step and his explosiveness...

Davies has 18 starts and Agudelo has 17.

Davies has 9 goals, Agudelo has 4.

I do love everyone always talks about Altidore's club form (and form period) and then they ask for guys like Agudelo to start over him (completely glossing over Agudelo's form, and that he has never looked great for the USMNT).

I think from memory, 2tone has said that he's our most skilled player.

If we were to show up at the park and Jozy AJ Agudelo and co. were at hte park just warming up, we'd all pick Juan because he looks like the player with the most ability and he is probably the strongest out of all of them too.

Anyone who says Altidore looks more muscular, think Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum. Howard is built like a 7 foot action figure but Andrew Bynum with tree trunk legs would throw him around all over the place.

Aron Johansson and the team will benefit from him getting an extended run of play with the USMNT. The players still don't know exactly what Aron wants to do- and as he is a bit unpredictable, at times there has been confusion. He has the talent, touch and awareness to be our starting striker, he just needs time and to be on the same page with the other fwd and midfield. There's a reason why he wears #9 for both USA and now Werder Bremen, and it's not just because they were available at the time.

The only thing Altidore has is athleticism, he's not technical, nor is he a dribbler, and he's not a smart player who makes runs into the box. Although he does have a wicked power shot but so does every striker out there, his form show's he doesn't belong any where near the US team right now.

Agudelo should not be called up either seeing as he is struggling in the MLS against defenders whom are even the greatest in the world, average at best. We just need someone who makes runs, dribbler, creates plays for himself and has great ball skill. Is that too much to ask?
