Competition always good since it forces Altidore to do something about his playing time and work harder. Not to mention it gives us different options which frankly at the moment could help. Cant wait for Boyd to start to get back in form. He def can be a good target forward in a top league just has to get back into rhythm

Dude, there aren't any pro soccer players over 200 lbs. They run too much. 174 w/ the muscle he has = "big."

Actually, a question to the group - who is 200+ out there besides keepers. Ibra is 6'5" but I doubt he's 200. Gonzo? I don't even think the Bash Bros are 200? Jameson Olave maybe. Toure?. Who else?

Lol, you call that big strong physical?

Since you live about 30 mins from me (Dublin CA) you should come up and play in a pick up game. Im 6'2 235 Lbs

Sorry but Johannsson has a better nose for goal! He puts himself in better positions. Johannson will be on an EPL team soon why altidore will be back in MLS next year!
Does he look like he's 174 pounds, he looks even bulkier than before. And yes he is big strong and physical. Just look at his goals from qualifying all the way to the last game against Nigeria.

You live in Dublin? I thought you live in San Fran. I don't mind playing pickup games, it will be fun. And yeah im 5'8 178 pounds.

Yes Johanson has a good nose for goal which is why i called him a poacher, but Jozy offers hold up play.

Obviously, there is more to being physical than measurements, but you are lying if you don't think a) that Jozy is bigger than most guys on the field and b) that Jozy can't ride tackles, take fouls, and out muscle most defenders.

Also...Jozy was ArJo before ArJo. Jozy's numbers in the Eriedivisie are almost identical to ArJo's.

I know AJ wants to come to MLS but this would be a better move for his career if he can consistently be in the starting XI and score around 15 goals a season. Ideally be in the low 20s. He is capable of that.

Yeah, Werder is a very good club. Always top of the table and competing for a place in Europe. This is a win-win.

I bet AK hold for at least 4.75 mill. THey control him through 2018. If he stays healthy and helpps them in europe the EPL teams will come offering close to 8mil.

@msantoine- true. But he's also been injured a few times perhaps they want to move on and get money while they can.

You must be thinking of a different Werder Bremen. Haven't finished in the top 8 since 09/10 when they finished 3rd. They've been pretty mediocre for a while.

Touche, I just remember them mainly from the Ailton days always being up there but they are a mainstay in the German top flight and that stability matters. They have been a places off European spots though through out those seasons but I do get them and Wolfsburg confused at times.

only a good move if he is going to get consistent playing time. Werder Bremen is not of the quality club where just practicing with them and not playing games will actually be of benefit.

IF he is going to play...GREAT move. If he is going to sit on the bench and be an occassionally used sub...BAD move.

They need a striker. I'd think he'd play.
