Aron with 3 goals today to beat Herenveen in the round of 16 in the Dutch Cup.

2 goals in 120 minutes and the third coming in a PK shootout. They all count towards his goal total regardless. which I believe Aron is now at 18 goals on the season in all comps.

Altidore I think had what 32 in all comps last year? So, Aron is well on his way in eclipsing that number; especially considering Aron and AZ have three comps to compete in, in the second half of the season: Eredivisie, Europa league, and the KNVB Beker(Dutch Cup).

technically speaking scoring a goal from a PK shootout doesn't register as a goal in the official books. But, we all know that he has scored 18 in all comps.

Reports coming out Neil Lennon Celtics boss was at the AZ V Heerenveen game scouting both ArJo and Finnbogosam.

A. I think Arjo is a smart player and would never go to the Scottish league even if it's Celtic.
B. After the WC I think Johannsson will get some very good offers in most of the top leagues in Europe and the Scottish league isn't even a second tier league anymore in Europe.

What do you guys think?

No way Id rather go to Chivas USA than the Scottish league. Aron Definitely will be a hot prospect after the world cup I think several clubs in Bundesliga, epl, La liga will be after him. He will have a break out yr in 2014.

Celtic, while a good team, play in an awful league. I'd rather him stay in the Eredivise if nothing else worthwhile comes his way.

I'd like to see Aron in the Bundesliga one day.

The only "good thing" about Celtic is the handful of Champions League matches they always play but the league is so terrible and he has something going really well right now at Alkmaar I don't see any point in him going to Celtic. As it was already mentioned he seems poised for a move into the Top 4 after the World Cup.

If he doesn't have a breakout showing at the WC, I think he has to stay with AZ. I'm sure he has seen what has happened with Jozy and is *hopefully* smart enough to not make the same decision.

Other than Henrik Larsson and arguably Gary Hooper, I can't think of any strikers who have used Celtic as a springboard to greater things. Such a move just doesn't make sense.

It's one thing for someone like Juan Agudelo when he was rumored to go to Celtic because he was leaving from MLS but Johannsson is already in the Eredivisie so I see no point in him going.

With Rangers not being there Scottish League is plummeting. Celtic was embarrased in the group stage of UCL (they played there A team every game while other teams would send a B to B+/A- team). With no other competent teams there its hurting Celtic and they are now no different than the Romanian League or Kazakhstan League, 1 dominent team and no one else that would even avoid relegation in bundesliga/EPL/La Liga

I'm with navi on this one, which isn't something that happens too often...

Think about it this way, who scores more goals in a season in the SPL than Celtic? Last season when both Ajax and Celtic won their respective titles, the total goal tallies were fairly close - 83 for Ajax and 96 for Celtic. AZ scored 56 league goals, 19 of which were Jozy's.

Would it really be so bad to move to a place where he's got the potential of scoring so many more goals? Would it be so bad to move to a place with guaranteed CL games?

Personally, it feels like more of an even trade off for me, what he loses in one respect he gains in another. He'd lose some of his artistry but he'd gain lots of physical awareness and strength. He'd have more chance of injury with wild Scottish tackles but would have the potential of scoring 40+ in all comps.

He's comfortable now, but if the money is there, he's got enough of a reason to want to move. Hopefully not before the WC though, I'm sure he'll have a much better choice of destinations to chose from than Scotland afterwards.
