Since I'm in a rut and feeling pretty pessimistic I'm feeling more and more that there is no stability in our starting XI. I don't envy Klinsmann's job this summer. Anyway, since Jozy hasn't scored, Dempsey hasn't looked good for a year, Bradley's move to MLS, and we have injury problems across the board I'm throwing in a fantasy line up.

---Altidore--Dempsey
Donovan--Holden--Fabian
--------Bradley---
Chandler-Besler-Brooks-Cameron
---------Howard

I have had an epiphany. With Fabian Johnson looking like a lock for LB, I think it's time to bring the high flying wingers back accept as inverted wingers for the WC. Have Donovan at LW and Beasley at RW. It's pretty obvious to me any ways. I know some will say Bedoya or Zusi, but I say Beasley is a far more dangerous player.

Klinsmann will play a 4-2-3-1 at the WC. So here is my proposed starting 11:

-----------Jozy----------
Lando-------Deuce------Beas
--------Mix-------MB90----
Fabian-----Besler----Gonzo----Cam
------------Howard--------

Speed and creativity on the wings. Donovan and Fabian could be a perfect left side with Donovan who has the ability to cover a lot of ground defensively when Fabian goes forward. Beasley and CAM on the right. Cam who is a bit more defense minded, but can go forward will provide the perfect defensive cover for Beas to do his thing.

I really think this starting 11 could do some damage.

I would switch Beasley to LW and Donovan to RW. But if Zusi continues to play well idk how you keep him off the starting 11 as well as Johansson.

Why would you switch? I prefer inverted wingers who can go to goal as well as cross.

Beasley is not right footed, and i think he will be more effective at LW. And Donovan has played RW before and played good at that position.

Right. Like he said. Inverted wingers. Dono is right footed playing on the left. Beas is left footed playing on the right. They can cross the ball or cut inside with the LB and RB overlapping on the wings.

When did Beasley become a high flying winger again? Zusi is better.

He has played fairly frequently with Puebla as a Winger/Wingback. Is Zusi better? Don't know about that.

Beasley is a good LW. I hope he doesn't play lb in the wc. we will get killed.

Of course it can be debated, but over 90 minutes, I'd take Zusi every day of the week. Our wings will have to play some strong defense to compete in the world cup and I don't see Beasley being able to pull his weight there.

beasley...

actually he has been pretty useful but i see him as a bench option at best. i also have a hard time seeing zusi being terribly useful against WC opponents.

chandler is still my guy on the right wing. if he is back in april he really needs to be on the field

I really don't want to see Beas starting anywhere on the field. Kind of a trade off with him...he still has a good step, but he's loose with the ball and his passing is just okay. His decision making is better than it use to be but still a little slow...wouldn't mind him as a backup.

Just stick a decent stay home defender at LB and play LD and FJ on the flanks.

Would you say that Ream is best suited for that?

It's kind of moot though, Beas has more recovery speed than anyone...as long as he doesn't get sucked in too close to an oncoming winger, no one should be able to beat him 1v1.
