I am hopeful it just turns out to be a sprain, but it doesn't look good.
If it turns out to be another ACL tear, with another 9 month long rehab process, it's quite possible that USMNT fans may have seen Stu for the last time in a USMNT jersey.
He will have to do what is best for his club career. That may mean sacrificing an international career to have a longer club career.
Like I said I hope it's just a sprain. Heal up Stu, but I will fully understand if you give up international soccer to prolong your club career.
I think the USMNT has more options now going forward if Stu is done internationally.
Diskerud has shown that he is more than capable of stepping up with the big boys.
Corona's preferred position is CM/CAM.
Cameron looks good at CM
Bradley is only 25.
Lletget has a bright future at CM/CAM.
Then there are other options emerging for the 2018 WC cycle i.e. Williams, Kitchen, Powers, Morales, and the aforementioned Lletget.

If its anything more than a sprain its going to be a career ender. If he looks at even a 3-4 month layoff that puts him out for all but a couple friendlys in 2014. With the added competition he'll be done. Too bad as he's the nicest guy in the pool

It sucks that happened to stu. He fights and sweats that US jersey. He loved playing for US with a passion as you guys all saw how devastated he was when he was removed. I just hope nothing TOO serious for our boy Stu. What a warrior he has being but Seeing this he will have to start playing more conservative.

Unreal moment watching him with his head in his hands on the bench, just so terrible to see.
I don't think it will be career ending because of this guys attitude and love for the game.
Either way, he's certainly a great guy to root for.
Good luck Stu.

If it is in fact another serious knee injury, that is the last time he suits up for the US and probably professionally. Maybe he can come back and play a couple more seasons professionally to make some dough, but he is 27 and ain't gettin any younger, been out with serious injuries for two years and now probably more. Gonna be hard to believe that clubs in England are going to have much confidence in him having any impact in their club. I really feel bad for the guy, he has all the talent in the world, but some people just have shit luck.

Anybody notice that this was his right knee. And I looked back at the johnny evan tackle and that was on his left. Poor Holden has knees made of glass.

There is a video of Stu jumping up a down when they lifted the cup. Cant jump that many times and that well with a torn acl

God this will be another long recovery for him. He's resilient but this sucks. Everyone enjoyed seeing him back.

Yep looks like chance of him making the world cup team are slim to none. Kind of have to think he will probably have to shut down his international career and just focus on his club. Its 2 bad for holden but in situations like this you cant take too many risks anymore.
