Kljestan was subbed off today because a portion of his ear was torn off. Crazy injury.

i was just about to go off on this thread...

what the F is going on? sacha on bench since returning from winter break and anderlecht has lost 2 and now pulled out a draw in 92nd minute - all 3 poor results against weak teams

today the coach had his former RB and a 16 y/o playing CM

Well, as we've seen all year with Anderlecht, they are clearly trying to rebuild, using a lot of really young players. Kljestan has seemed to be the only veteran player to survive the rebuilding effort.

Maybe they are ready to move on from him now too.

He shouldve moved back to MLS like Bradley...

Kljestan getting replaced by a 16 y/o? Doesn't look good. Hope he regains his position, if not, no WC for him.

MLS, Scandanvian Leagues, Chinese League, Brazilan league, and argentinan league are all possible transfer destinations open at this point. It seems Anderlecht has made the move to the youth movement. If I am Klijestan the move to the mls seems to make the most sense. If he wants to wait until the summer to make the move he might not be able to make the 23.

Why would anyone go to the Chinese league? If you're looking to get paid more than what you are worth just go the MLS and America.

Unrelated to Kljestan losing his playing time, it always seemed unfair to me that Diskerud and even Beckerman passed him on the depth chart because they had the lengthy opportunity to impress at the Gold Cup.

If he had been there I'm sure Kljestan would have played really well and been one of the best midfielders in the tournament. I personally rate him higher than Diskerud, although not to the extent of Rain obviously.

What are your thoughts on Sacha? He plays Champions League football, for a historical club, he is starting to get more consistent time in the starting XI but when he plays for the national team, he seems to be a dud(even though he is played out of position and we don't have the fluid passers he may play with while with his club) but I am undecided on how I feel, obviously he has some ability if he has stayed with a club like Anderlecht so long but for the Nats, he is mediocre or doesn't live his stamp on the game.

Diskerud has proven to be much better than Kljestan with the National team.

I have nothing against Kljestan. I think he is a decent player, but his time for the nats has come and gone.

Any Sacha thread is invalid unless Rain comments on it. I always thought he wasn't good enough for Nat duty, but good to hear he's back getting time for Andelrlecht.

IMO the door should always be open to good players in good form

judging SK for nats over last couple years is about as astute as judging bradley over his last 5 USNT games (since beginning of WC bradley has played 435 mins in 5 games, kljestan 463 since 2011)

like most players MB is very effective in a certain role but looks a little lost played in an alternate role. kljestan has played very little under JK and when he has it has, more often than not, been in an unfamiliar role

all that said 2014 has been a down year at anderlecht and, as for anyone, SK will have to play well consistently for club to get looks this cycle

He is in a pretty good run of form. Consistently in the Anderlecht line-up and since he was put in the line-up Anderlecht has been getting a lot of good results. He is another one of those players who isn't asked to do too much at club level thus allowing him to thrive. With the USA, I felt he was expected to be a better player than he really is or do things that isn't in his skill set as well as played out of position. But Anderlecht is no slouch of a club so I never got the big dip between his club performance and his national team performance. But I think he is another place that suffers from our players being too similar in talent level. At Anderlecht he will never be the best player on the club and he seems content with that and knows his job and does it well for them.

David Wagner and Huddersfield Town are on the brink of history as they look to achieve promotion to the Premier League.
