The comment where he thinks of having Jozy Tap in a goal wont help for confidence. It just doesnt work like that.

Well I'm glad Poyet has a good mentality about Jozy. Let's hope this is a good indicator success that could soon come for Altidore.

Poyet at least has an overall conception of how he wants his team to play, and what he is looking for from the individuals he has available from which to fashion his side.

Dicanio was/is a loose cannon who was without any overarching conception or vision of the side he was sending on to the pitch.

Under Poyet's guidance they at least appear to have some semblance of a concept of style of play, and hence some mooring.

Say what you want about PDC, at least he didn't want to use Jozy in an almost goalless role. He seems to be embracing his hold-up/provider role of late but it's no good for his confidence ahead of a WC.

At least let him take the penalties, get a few league tallies on the board to show for all his efforts...

I foresee his role in the WC being very similar, especially against Portugal and Germany.

Yeah, Jozy isn't going to be scoring against those teams. Maybe this will actually work out for the best! Who would have thought..

I'm sure that most people were thinking the same againstany of the upper-echelon teams across Europe...

Playing in the EPL as a lone striker is refining his overall play. He might not be scoring but once the world cup come he will be a handful for the defenses of our rivals in group G. You need two players to out strength Jozy which create more space for our boys . Not only that but he can score with us.

I'm just giving Jozy a hard time. He was unlucky not to score a couple times in 2010. I truly believe he's netting a couple in Brazil even if he doesn't score from now until that Ghana game. He's not the type of player that can carry a team but he makes a good team better.

Agreed, a team with a stacked midfield will definitely thrive with him up top giving the backline hell, problem is that ain't Sunderland...

BBC article about it didn't have a reschedule date...just says that the match was called off about an hour before kickoff and that both managers supported the decision.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
