Dont think.scoccio is better than jozy but the problem is the coach will play him more often leaving jozy on the bench. Maybe it will make jozy better with more competition. He needs to start scoring goals asap!

I think Fletcher has more to worry about. But maybe this will help Altidore get a fire lit under his bum.

Poyet has been pretty adamant that he really wants Jozy to start firing on all cylinders. Poyet understands that Jozy is talented.

Nothing to do with Jozy's motivation. He's not capable of creating on his own. He will continue to not thrive for the duration of the season. It's his fault for picking this club.

Not true, he can create on his own...he's got the ability to turn and fire a pretty mean shot, the problem is that the few balls he is on the receiving end of are usually either not in/around the box and Jozy is tracking back, booted toward the corner and he manages to get on the end of it, or a 30 yard pass into his chest where he can't stop the ball from rebounding to another player.

The issue has and will continue to be the system in which he's being used. He's being utilized for his talent at occupying defenders and creating space, and his hold up play. But you get a nice ball to his feet at the top of the 18 with his back to goal, he'll take one touch to set and then fire. I've seen it from him plenty, and until the team starts playing in a way that allows him the opportunity, he won't be seeing much of the back of the net.

TBH, I really don't think the EPL is the place for Jozy. Two tries now and both haven't been pretty. Sure there are a number of extenuating circumstances, but most quality EPL forwards can manage to put in a handful of goals no matter whether the team is playing well or really badly. I think Jozy is and can be really good forward at the level right underneath the top four euro leagues. Greece, Turkey, Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, France, Russia, or even Switzerland, all would be a good place for Jozy's talent level.

I just think people need to stop making excuses for him. He's talented no doubt, but if he's as spectacular as we think he is he'd have more goals. Plain and simple. He may be on a shit team but that can only be your excuse for so long. Typically talent shines when teams are bad. Or at least stands out. He's got good hold up play and maintains possession but he cannot create chances for himself even close to consistently.

How long did Fernando Torres go without a goal on much better teams than Jozy? He's proven at AZ and on the NT that he can score almost at will when the team is geared toward making use of him/the striker role as more than just a hold-up man. Move him to a better team with an established attacking identity and he'll do better.

Yes but he has to earn it. Not many top teams are going to want to buy him with the way he's playing. Not like Sunderland would sell anyway.

I can only get the Fulham stream for today's matches. Anyone know where to find the Sunderland vs Stoke game?

Happy New Year everyone. My name is holto. A refugee from espn and ussoccer.
I think the answer to this topic is fairly straightforward...Altidore can score against CONCACAF opposition, and in the Fischer Price league that is the Eredivisie. He has proved that he can be successful at that level.
But he isn't really all that good.

And of those matches, Spain Bosnia, Mexico and Germany....which of those were Friendlies and which were FIFA events....Besides the Spain goal from what...2009? This is 2014 right?? As a matter of fact I cannot recall another FIFA endorsed match where Altidore has come through vs top notch opponents....can you?
