Not sure if we arent getting updates this year (they were some of my favorites) but just an FYI minus Mixx Rosenberg was knowcked out of Europa League already. Also FC Utrecht lost to a Luxembourg club. A couple of younger yanks who wont get there chance to play against some bigger European clubs

Hate it, but for many, Europa isn't that big of a deal. I've seen plenty of interviews from top-league teams not exactly lamenting this because there are less games in a season and allows more focus on their league endeavors. Other teams go balls out. Just depends on what you're looking for.

Mixx, however, could've profited from Europa play. His play in the Gold Cup coupled with a solid role with Rosenborg could have put him in a position for a big(ger) move. He's done well to go there from the lowly Stabaek, but it's his time to shine. Let's hope he can make waves for Rosenborg this season and get his name out there.

Exactly. Europa doesnt matter for teams like Spurs, Liverpool, etc. It does allow younger players to get minutes against decent opposition (A good Romanian squad is better than a 3rd tier Bundesliga team or reserve EPL match)

Hapoel Tel Aviv and Bryan Gerzicich have been looking good in the EL qualifiers

Tough break for Mix as I agree with everything that's been said. As a USMNT fan first, I'm still happy that he played in the Gold Cup over the Europa League qualifiers. He's proven that he is a very viable option in CM and now has given Klinsmann a lot to think about. For his chances with the MNT, his Gold Cup performance will go a lot farther than anything he could have done in the Europa League.

In the broader picture of his career, the point about using the Europa League as a showcase for moving to a bigger club is valid and will now be a missed opportunity but I think that more than a few clubs will have been following the Gold Cup to scout for new cheap talent.

Terrence Boyd just drew a penalty and took the PK to tie up Rapid's Europa League game 1-1.

Gerzicich and Hapoel Tel Aviv are tied with with Romania's Pandurii 1-1 in the 53rd.

This would be a nice road result for Hapoel

With his solid GC performances and his already good reputation, if Rosenburg win the league again he'll be moving in the summer.

Boyd is starting this season off on a great foot. Hopefully he doesnt have that midseason hiccup he had last season

Very nice assist by Boyd to give Rapid the 1-0 lead right now. Hustled for a 50/50 ball on a nice through ball into the box and then centered it deftly through the defender while getting knocked down for an easy put in.

We have a few guys playing today in Europa League. Friedal starting Spurs. Johannson for AK, and Boyd for Rapid Vienna. Boyd just scored on a great header to tie it up at 1 - 1 against Genk.

Johannsson taken off at halftime. Didn't really do much in that first half.

I have to say this. I am really impressed with Boyd's passing. He is not going to dribble by players that's not his skill set, but he can pass really well and be a dangerous 18 yard box striker.
