Brooks is 6'4" and great in the air so we're not losing anything there if he plays in place of Goodson. And while Goodson does have more professional experience, it's not like CG played in a top league. Bronby is a decent team but I'd argue that Bundesliga 2 is a faster league than the Danish league and with JAB now moving to the big time, adjusting in the speed of international play isn't going to be a problem for him AT ALL. Gotta see him in action first and he has to gel with the other guys, but he has WAY more upside than Goodson.

Brooks is a terrific player but where did you get that he was "great in the air"?

Despite his size, that's a weakness for him. He's improving but he still has a ways to go.

Brooks is definitely not great in the air. Probably means you have seen very little of him or going off suckernet writers. Brooks, despite his massive size, does not use his body as well as he should, be it on the ground or moreso in the air. He will need to work on that, and given his first full year being a starter, it's going to be a gut-check with it happening in the Bundesliga. I played with a CB at GSU that was similar. It took him till his junior year to use his size effectively. He was a late bloomer, as is JAB, so he still seemed a little clumsy with his movements, and I saw the same with JAB last year. JAB also needs to get with his tactical positioning and awareness but again that will come with games.

Check in tomorrow afternoon the roster will be announced thursday night german time not tonight. So probably around 2:00 tomorrow you should have the information reported. Although the info might be leaked before then by various sources. Personally I think he was leaning towards the united states however being invited to play for german u-21s is very tempting.

Its easy to say on paper that he is leaning towards the us but once you get an offer from the german u-21s like that in writing I am sure its not going to be an easy decision to make for him. Players can be very loyal however they are also human and he has lived in germany all of his life and I am sure he feels a heavy connection to both sides. I think he ends up committing to the US but I think it ends up being a very tough decision for him.

JAB is not on the German youth roster.

Hopefully good news for us.

Well according to Matt Hermann (@MrMattHermann), he has accepted the USMNT callup.

Who is this guy? Should I follow him?

Wow... That's pretty great news. He did have a lot of good things weighing in his factor with us though - his dad is still active in his life and they "wanted to rep" the USA together apparently... And he had 4 US camps vs 1 with Germany... And he has a chance to really be a cog in our system early on and potentially land a ticket to the bench in Brazil depending on his form this year.

Granted what I've seen are clips, not a full match so it's hard to judge. With him being in top flight this year matches will be be easier to watch on tv. Regardless, hope he gets it and I'm sure Hertha are working on that with him.

On another player, anyone know anything about Mario Rodriquez? Was just announced he moved from Kaiserslautern to Borussia Monchengladbach on a two year contract. I know he plays our U-20's and started with LA Galaxy but not much else. Prognosis?

why the bench?

besler and goodson have all of 3 games together (last 3 games)
besler and gonzo have 6

playing in bundesliga should qualify him for an opportunity at a starting spot (depending on form this year)

This is just my guess because of how he matches up with our (so far and through many games) best CB at the NT level who is Besler. He really doesn't complement Besler well... They are very similar players.

So its really just my feeling of course I can't prove it... No one knows til we are there. But Brooks has to learn to use his size better (he has it, at least) so if that happens this year in the Bundes who knows... And he is a relatively inexperienced player. I just expect a more veteran, physical presence on the back line.

It's time for American developed talent to step up
