100% expect JK to call in a full squad, MLS included. Like Bshredder mentioned in another thread, there are only a handful of FIFA date friendlies left before the WC. Its too late in the cycle to worry about stepping on MLS team's toes. We need to get our 11 and 23 together as often as possible to be able to pick the best group and get them to gel.

We will be lucky to tie. Being played in Europe, with most likely none or our MLS/MS contingent, ie Lando, all our starting CBs (Goodson, Omar, Besler), Beasley, Corona, EJ, Herc we will be very short handed on paper. Throw in the fact that Bosnia has looked like one of the top 3-4 teams in Euro qualifying and we could get smoked

It's crazy to think that out of the CBs in contention for a spot on the MNT (for now) only Gooch is still based in Europe with Besler, Gonzo, Goodson and Boca all in the MLS and Orozco in Mexico albeit he may be on his way to the MLS too.

That really speaks volumes of the MLS which was always a league that was suitable for international quality midfielders and forwards but was not good enough to fully develop international quality defenders. Granted Goodson and Boca are journeymen on the tail end of their careers but its still a positive change for the league.

I think that is why he wont pick MLSers again. It is smack dab in the middle of two MLS weeks. SKC which is well represented for example has games on Aug 10th & 18th. Do you think the club will be happy having Besler and Zusi miss 1-2 games for a friendly? After they agreed to release them for this non-FIFA event? Same for LAG, RSL, Por, Sea, and others. I just wouldnt expect it. Euro leagues shut down for international windows. MLS doesnt. Will there be some MLSers, possibly, but I wouldnt expect there to be 7 or 8 which has been the norm

This is a non-FIFA event? Are you talking about the Gold Cup?

I think BShredder said this in some other forum but with how important all the upcoming games will be in determining the world cup squad, it will most likely be at least close to a full squad.

Are you guys serious?

The friendly occurs at a time where FIFA has marked on their calendar for games to take place. It is a FIFA sanctioned date. That means that club teams do not have the right to refuse to let a player go play for their national team. Because of that, knowing that a full strength, european based squad will be available, it should be expected that Klinsmann will call in the best players he can.

dont think anyone is discussing "rules" here

comment suggests you are not aware that USMNT often does not call in a full complement of MLS players in mid-season for frindlies in europe due to the distance and the inconvenience to the clubs.

but this game may represent an exception due to do a few unique factors - possible it will be a "full-blooded" camp, or very close to it

Exactly. I believe that official FIFA rules state that clubs dont have to release their players until saturday midnight or there abouts before a FIFA matchday. Since most of the MLS teams have games on that saturday they wont be able to fly out until sunday morning. By the time they get to Bosnia you are looking at about a 1 day training session with severe jet lag and a walkthrough before a friendly against a good team. Remember Chandler at Honduras? He was exaushted. MLS players will play like that. Im sure 1-2 will be there but to expect Zusi, besler, Omar, EJ, Evans, Lando to all make the trip I think you'll be disappointed or we will get wallopped

I hope the respective coaches realize the importance of this game, however I wont be surprised if little to any of them are actually able to make the trip.

If you were coach of a MLS team beating a fellow MLS team is about 100x more important than US playing Bosnia in a friendly. Friendlies are exhibitions. People need to remember that.

With the USA playing so well and having more depth what are the chances we see Jones going to Bench? DOnt get me wrong he is good and has played UEFA champions league but he its to careless and might cost us a red one day

I would substitute "careless" for "aggressive" and say it's worth it to me to have him in any capacity. Despite the fact he's got a current lock on a starting role, and even if that were to go away, he'd be a huge boost off the bench. He's also a decisive passer, has a great engine, and can be a pest in the offensive third at times. IMHO, he's the most physical CM we have - not just for his aggression (i.e. a yellow card every game or so), but physically imposing as well.

Yeah, he's not perfect, but Jones is still well within our best 10. It's hard to see him not starting. Hopefully Holden and Cameron have good seasons so we have the option of some platooning in the middle in Rio.

Yea, I am fully aware of the Fifa rules and how the USMNT makes selections. Even if it is an inconvenience for the MLS clubs, they cant do anything about it. They have to let the guys go during a Fifa sanctioned date.

And on the MLS thing, if we pulled in our best squad, we would have at least 6 or so guys that would be from MLS. So they will be there. So will all the European based players.

For the Bosnia, i would expect Donovan, Besler/Gonzalez/Goodson, Johnson/Wondolowski, Zusi, and a goalkeeper.

Goodson and Gonzalez are fighting for a spot. They will want to be there to challenge for it.

Donovan and Zusi are battling for a spot. They will both want to be there.

Johnson or Wondolowski (or Gomez) will be there. I would expect Johnson and one of the others.

We will need another goalkeeper. So take your pick. Rimando, Sean Johnson, Hamid, MacMath, whatever. An MLS goalie will be there.

Thats at least about 6 guys.

3rd goalie doesn't have to worry about fatigue. I'm sure one of them will be there. No chance on wondo. Well have Boyd, possibly johansson or wood as striker too.

I'm sure 1-2 CBs will be there as outside of brooks our whole cb ranks are in mls.

I could see lando there to integrate him would guess EJ and Zusi stay home and we roll with Wooten Shea Holden Bedoya on the wings.
