Paul debuted in the second half for Tijuana last night and collected an assist on Benedetto's 3rd goal for his hat trick. Atlas rallied to tie the game. But Arriola has started off his pro career in good fashion.

That 2015 US U-20 team is going to be stacked full of attacking talent. Wouldn't surprise me if Mexico try's to lure Arriola to their U-20 program.

On another note it looks like Herc Gomez will be fighting for a starting spot with Benedetto, and I have to say it's going to be a hard fight. Gomez is looking less like the supposed main man as some analysts predicted.

Corona is going to have a fight on his hands for playing time as well.

Oh and I just found out that Arriola is applying for Mexican citizenship. Which tells me that he is keeping the possibility open about playing for Mexico in the future.

I think Gomez might just be playing himself out of Brazil. Between injuries and potentially losing his spot he cant catch a break

I have felt for some time that Gomez is not a lock for Brazil. Especially considering all of the striker options that will be emerging this year i.e. Wooten, Wood, Boyd, Agudelo, MCInerney, Johannsson(maybe). Clearly there are better options at outside FWD/winger as well i.e. Shea, Lando, Pontius, Zusi, Wooten, Corona and possible surprise players like Arriola or a Julian Green. Things will definitely change this year leading up to the WC.

I knew about arriola few yrs back when he was with the Galaxy, i saw him in a few reserve games and i felt he was better than villareal, mc bean.. Idk why Galaxy never promoted him to the first team.. I think he will end up with double digit goals for xolos in all competions, includes champs league. wouldnt be suprised if he plays for mexico..

That's not why he applied for Mexican citizenship. He applied so that it would help Club Tijuana keep their foreign quota down.

His eligibility for a Mexican passport comes from his great grandfather or grandfather. His connection with Mexico personally isn't strong. He still lives at home with his parents in the USA and drives across the border for practice and games..

This kid is 100% for the red, white, & blue.

I don't think the U.S has EVER lost a player to another nation team that fits all of the below

1) Born & raised in the USA
2) Played extensively with the US youth national teams
3) Was still actually wanted by the US program at some level.

I've talked to Arriola, he's pumped playing for the USA.

Just went back and watched the last 30 mins of this game (ESPN3.com has the full replay) and I have to saw Arriola looked pretty good, especially given his age and that is was his pro debut.

He looked very confident and aggressive on offense and even did a good job tracking back on defense. Liking this move for him if he's going to be getting time like this, interesting player to keep an eye on.

He has some explosive acceleration I have to say, not stellar level, but pretty good.

Great level of maturity, I can see him captaining the U-20 side in next WC.
