Shelvey is now in Swansea so it would be more like Henderson/Gerrard/Dempsey but yes I think Liverpool would be a good fit, especially if they sell Suarez they will need to replace his goals.

Arsenal would be an intriguing destination. I don't think he is Wenger's type of player, but he is what Arsenal needs...someone who finishes chances and is not concerned with how pretty the play is.

It is a very remote possibility, but with Mourinho back with Chelsea, Dempsey's play somewhat resembles that of Eidur Gudjohnsen, who played a withdrawn striker behind Drogba. He fit's that role better than anyone the Blues have now, but I would think they would have to sell Torres first for this to work.

If the deal to bring Cesc back to The Emirates falls through, I could see Dempsey being on the shortlist...I don't think that Mourinho would bring him in unless he sold Torres and Mata first.

He should either go to Norwich, Everton, or Southampton. He would have to transfer out of England for a chance at a CL club. Him to Liverpool is a horrible idea...

Any particular reason it would be a bad idea? Rogers is a good manager and he would for the most part be guaranteed a spot.

I would submit not playing in Europe may be a good thing...playing one match a week going into a WC year will keep him fit without overextending himself.

@Know Nothing, I was thinking the same thing...with his aerial prowess and very productive wingers in Sterling/Coutinho/Downing, he'd be able to do very well IMO. Admittedly, Coutinho isn't a natural winger but can very easily transition into that role with his great ball skills and his change-of-pace.

Liverpool wouldn't be the best move he could make, but it certainly wouldn't be a bad idea.

Rodgers seems like he is only going after youth players. He did sign kalo toure but that was because they were in desperate need of a defender

Yes he has been buying young players...but look where that left him last year. They got better once Coutinho came in. The young players he is after will need time to acclimatize. Deuce knows the league.

I 100% agree that the young players players would havent gotten liverpool anywhere. I would sign dempsey in a heart beat if I were the manager of liverpool but i think rodgers will continue with his youth movrment. it also sounds like this is the way management wants to go and is willing to give Rodgers time to develop the young talent and results aren't that important just yet

I bet dempsey ends up at somewhere like West Ham, Villa, West Brom. I don't see him going to liverpool, everton, or even back to fulham. If he really wants a better team then he'll have to go abroad and I highly doubt that happens.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Sunderland try to snap him up. I hate to say this, but none of the big premier league teams are going to sign him.

Actually it could be a huge boost for the USMNT if he does go to Sunderland. Him and Altidore being together everyday could be a huge pay off.

I made the same point a little while ago, pairing them up would be awesome for their interplay and understanding. The link is for an article that is all about the Giaccherini signing being less than expected, and at the very bottom of the article it mentions that PDC is also looking to sign Tom Huddlestone. It's speculation on my part, but in my opinion it's not out of the question that if the price isn't right for him, he may look to sign Dempsey instead.

Id say arsenal.. if he leaves it has to be to a champs league team.. I think Tottenham will finish high this season top 3... Spain ? Germany ? Italy ?

Arsenal is not going after Dempsey after they (Arsenal) really wanted him last season. Dempsey should had made the right decision last season when Arsenal really really wanted him and I think he would have more playing time with them. I don't see him leaving Spur for a while unless he goes to a lower team, maybe Everton or with Jozy at his new club. Hey maybe Fulham will take him back.

Correct, Liverpool thought they had him until a last minute change to Spurs.

Its being reported that Sunderland bought Huddelstone from Spurs. This means two things.

1) Doubt Sunderland looks to get Dempsy now as with Huddelstone, Magic Jack, & Jozy they have their new attackers. And Jozy should have good service all year and maybe approach 15-20 goals

2) Increases the chance that Dempsey stays put.

I may be mistaken, but I think I read somewhere that Deuce was offered as a make weight in Spurs attempt to sign Bentenke.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
