So I just stated this on another comment, but did anybody read that FoxSoccer article on Wondo by Leander Schaerlaeckens? I'm sorry, but that's a joke. I've never been a fan of him since his ESPN days and i find him to be inept in this area.

I also had a little twitter back and forth with Phil Schoen from BeINsports. He put Kyle Beckermans first half against Belize in "Xavi territory". Really?

Look, I like to think I know what I'm talking about, but I know thats not always true. But there are a lot of these guys that i when I read or listen to their stuff, I cringe.

Aside from BShredder and the impeccable staff at YA, who else do you people like?

Dislike?

Somebody that is coming around on me is Taylor Twellman. I like him calling the games.

I like Eric and Kasey. Alexi is annoying. Cobi wasn't very exciting to listen to the other night. Taylor is ok. I enjoy listening to him take the piss out of Ian Darke.

I'm sick of all of the Brits involved in broadcasts. We have more than enough former internationals that can do the job. Of course not all of them are great, Cobi for example, but there are enough that can do the job. That being said I don't mind Ian Darke.

As far as reading. I read Ives Gal...(sp?), Steve Goff, Michael Lewis, Grant Wahl, etc.

I like Soccer By Ives website and surprisingly Bleacher report actually does have some decent writers. I specificly like Sam Tighe, Michael Cummings, Will Tidey and a few others who I think left because I havnt seen anything from them in a while. On ESPN I think Marcotti (sp) is decent and Hirsey (spelling) is funny.

For commentators I can't stand Twellman and Lalas and I can't stand MLS commentators including my own on local channels because of the obnoxious bias. Gus Johnson makes me pull my hair out and my friends and I thought up a drinking game for him when he pronounces a name wrong, yells "In the area!!!" or just generally displays his lack of soccer knowledge you must drink. Unfortunately it got to the point where we needed a paramedic standing by because of alcohol poisoning which is awkward when your not 21 so we had to put a stop to it. My favorite commentators are Arlo White, Sir Ian Darke, Martin Tyler and Steve McManamann. The Sir Ian Darke and Steve McManamann pairing on ESPN EPL games was legendary in my friends group.

Like Grant Wahl
Like Ives
Like 2tone, can we include him?

Like the excitement and positivity of Alexi, although he does it to the point of outreaching facts a bit too much. He does it for the love of country and sport though, that's why I'm okay with it.

I used to read ESPN all the time, it's completely worthless lately. I go there for headlines, and even then they typically are well behind other sources. ~Jen Chang was great when he was there.

I'm addicted to soccer info though, so I read all sorts of sources.

I think whenever Stu retires (later rather than sooner hopefully) he would be quality. Good personality as well.

Wow. It is mind numbing how someone could write an article like that. I'm really glad for Wondo that he was able to break through and score some goals but c'mon now, Belize is sub-MLS caliber! Leander is notorious for this though, so I'm not surprised.

I personally feel as though he is doing the profession, his colleagues, and the fans a disservice by writing articles of that nature. Someone with the ability to make their opinion known to a national audience should take their craft seriously enough that drivel of that nature should never make it's way to the front page of a website for the USMNT. It's infuriating that he expects knowledgeable fans to accept some of the opinions that he intimates in his articles.

I use to dislike Taylor but he's becoming more opinionated on air. And while I might not agree with him, I like that from these guys. I like guys that ask the questions, that want more out of this country, soccer-wise. BShredder is one of the more outspoken guys and doesnt mind stirring the pot. I dont always agree with him, but it gets the conevrsation started.

Guys like Wahl, Leander, and Ives are so vanilla. They basically just report and tip-toe the line.

Brian Strauss on the other hand...haha i like him.

Darke and Macca are hilarious. Of course, being English doesnt help, but they are never satisified. They will critique Rooney on his best of days. Its great.

I feel like US commentators and analysts want to think everybody is better than they actually are, especially in the MLS.

I really only like Bshredder, the rest of them kind of suck. I like Matt Doyle but even he can be way off at times...but to be honest most soccer writers/announcers/analysts suck around the world. Very few people really understand the game and study more then one league. I remember one English announcer saying "who is Cavani(last year) I've never heard of him." I mean really....

Most of the high profile guys NEVER go into tactics(in any depth) the articles can be so drone and boring. They talk matchups but never go into formation, positioning,ect...it can be really annoying when most fans I know more then the "experts" getting paid to talk about the sport.

I remember Grand Wahl saying Mexico were better then the Italian NT. I wanted to puke...that was dumb.

Bshredder should be given an award for being good at what he does.

Taylor Twellman realllllyyyyy gets under my skin. Idk why. He just says everything with such conviction. He almost sounds angry at players, which he may be, but I don't think he's always got a good way of commentating. Not bad though. Lalas is alright but when he's beside actual commentators during halftime shows he kinda makes me cringe. Idk there aren't many that I like a lot.
