Donovan was great. Happy he got his 50th assist. He was all over field dictating play.

Mix.looked indecisive that tackle he took shouldve been red. But he,settled and looked more comfortable.

Holden looked great once he came on.

Shea was misplacing passes but was better than Bedoya.

Beckerman got a nice assist but he's Beckerman.

Torres and Corona didnt really impress me. Corona did have some nice moments but he was not sharp with his passing.

Congrats to Wondo. That misspelled jersey could do him some good.

Goodson and Orozco were solid.

Beasley was awesome going down that left flank.

Parkhurst was meh. Gave up that cheap goal. Wasnt too bad going down that right flank.

Great assessment dude. Holden should have started for Beckerman. Not sure what the disconnect with Torres is but he just doesn't seem to fit in. Was disappointed with Mix. Wasn't aggressive, misplaced most of his passes, and generally looked lost. Glad he sat Gooch as well. Overall, Holden and Donovan should have solidified themselves on the team and should be in the A team starting 11. Orozco, Goodson, Wondo are A team back ups. Beasley is A team material as well. The rest of the guys, not so much.

Wondo to me is still not A team. I am glad the guy is finally scoring goals but scoring a hat trick against Belize does not do enough for him to be considered World Cup material.

Now this performance did provide him with the opportunity to keep getting playing time. I think if he would have been blanked or even just had the gimme that fell at his feet then you would see Gomez and Mac more the rest of the Gold Cup. If he keeps producing the rest of the tournament then I would consider him for a call up to the A team.

Wouldnt be surprised to Herc start again, considering Klinsmann sat hiim due to the turf issue. Same goes for Holden & Gooch.

Glad to see Wondo score, but he's not even close to the A squad, or at least he shouldnt be. He just doesnt have the quality. Guys, Hamid would of probably scored a couple goals last night if we played him at forward.

I've been skeptical of Wondo but I was never one of the crowd that believed he didn't have what it took to score at the international level. His problems seemed to be more mental whenever played for the U.S. He was over thinking and not playing the way he could.

If he is starting to get past his mental blocks and finding a rhythm, he can help the U.S team out against better teams.

Landon Donovan is incredible, what an unbelievable accomplishment with his 50/50 feat.

Anybody else recognize how much better Mix looked once Holden came in? It was like he was a completely different player and not necessarily because of anything that Holden was doing per se, it just looked like Mix took the shackles off.

Corona was driving me nuts during the first half but the kid is damn thirsty and was busting his tail to make something happen in the second half. He's one goal or assist away from breaking loose in my opinion. I hope to see it in the next game.

People overreact to wondo scoring.3.goals, we were playing Belize Casey would of scored 3 goals, even McBride at 40plus would of scored 3 goals.. I still dont thinl wondo is A team potenyial..

Corona is a good player but as his career has progressed he is becoming more of a deeper, withdrawn player. When he was playing in college at SDSU or in his early Xolos days, he was pure attacker.

Last year with Xolos doing well, he played much further back in the midfield.

That's fine. There is a role for that type of player. Corona is a actually very good defensively and can transition the ball into the attack well. He can help his team win.

But to expect Corona to be this offensive spark of creativity is expecting him to be a player that doesn't really fit the game he plays regularly. Looking back at Xolos season, he wasn't heavily involved in many goals.

Corona is a good player, but Bedoya would be better served in the role Corona is asked to play by Klinsmann. Bedoya has grown more as an attacking player during his career and can create goals once his team has possession deep in the final third. Corona fits a deeper role better where he can force a turnover and move the game from defense to offense.

I completely agree based on what I've seen and was disappointed to see two deeper CM type players being deployed as wingers (Corona, Torres) which was why we saw so few crosses from them. What is especially odd is how Klinsmann continues to use these players outside of where they play for their teams... when they don't show well it's hard to know who's fault that really is.

This team still lacks real wingers which is why I still think Donovan is most needed out wide even especially against teams who will bunker down. Donovan through the middle is great when on the counter but that happens so little in these games.

And Brek Shea really seemed to not care at all and bring nothing on the field when he came on... what was that about?

This team still lacks real wingers ?

Completely agree what is unbelievable is not that the team doesnt lack wingers but you have wingers and dont start them. I dont understand why you play the formation klinsmann does and then you dont have natural wingers in the winger position. My guess is hopefully klinsmann uses shea and bedoya as the wingers. I really dont understand why we didnt put more wingers in the preliminary roster. I dont understand why Nyugen still hasnt been called up when in my opinion he has been one of the better wingers in mls. I kind of wish we didnt have so many strikers on the team because bruin and mcinerney will get limited minutes due to gomez and wondo looking good. Honestly no offense to bruin but I wish we could trade a winger for him. Hopefully we can just make the position changes and we should be fine on the wing. An intresting idea is if shea doesnt get into the starting 11 you move beasley up and put ashe at left back. Torres is not a winger wish klinsmann would make up his mind on his playing position and use him where he is supposed to be.

So after the game Belize players are now claiming that they were told to throw the game against the US. Here's the link to the SI article: http://tracking.si.com/2013/07/10/belize-unit...

Seems really odd tho. You come out talking about how you wanna embarrass us then as soon as you get blown out you come out and say you were told to throw the match. I mean what's the point? The US was heavy favorites so its not the betters were making money or something off this. The US was heavy favorites and you can't throw a game your supposed to be blown out anyways. Well I just think its sketchy...thoughts?

They were offered money to throw the match in a way that would tilt the goal differencial bryond the projected odds. There is a lot of money in gambling and clearly the man in question was planning on bettting on a massivr US win.

Nobody is accusing the players of taking the money or suggesting that the 5 goal differnce i disingenous only that the offer was on the table before the game.

I agree, he seemed very tight in the past...pressing too hard to make an impact.

My take on Wondo is he will play loose and confident surrounded by quality players like Herc, Stu and LD. Players that make great decisions and move the ball quickly. Smart players combine easily and make it look simple. Mentally he's on the same wavelength as those players. His overall game is fundamentally sound, he just lacks speed. He's a box forward plain and simple. Put Wondo with players that read the game at a lower level or players that have tunnel vision and he'll be invisible on the field. Going forward, I think he is going to shine in the tourney. it's an ideal situation for him being supported by LD and Stu. The chemistry with LD is apparent. I wouldn't be surprised to see him and Herc up top against Cuba with LD as a flank mid cutting inside to support.

Nguyen isnt a winger. He plays centrally for the revs. Diego and Rowe play outside

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
