Hoyos on a season long loan to first division Greek team 'OFI'.

Again stated his desire to play for the USMNT one day.

Not sure he's even good enough to play for the USMNT... He's not the same player as he was before his car wreck

Yea that train seems to have left the station at this point. I wonder if any MLS clubs might have brought him in on loan if given the opportunity.

The spanish MLS article on him said RSL and Seattle tried acquiring his services but felt the move to Greece would open more doors for him. As well as saying it took him almost a full year to be at a level he was at pre - accident. So we'll see how he does on loan to really tell. After all the US could use an attacking mid developed in Argentina. JK has an eye on him

Highly talentd. If he can get back to his old form in Greece he may get some looks for the USMNT. Klinsmann has been keeping tabs on him. Still very young. Could be a player for the 2018 WC cycle.

I view him more as a longterm prospect. But you never know he may preform well enough in Greece this season to catch Klinsmann's eye.

I think a call-up for that Bosnia friendly is probably a long shot, but you never know because mostly European based players will be called up for that game.

The 2018 WC cycle for attackers could very well be stacked. Hoyos, Nagbe, Wood, Wooten, Pontius, Zusi, Altidore, Gatt, Shea, Gyau, Adu, McInerney, Agudelo, Julian Green, Gil, Rodriguez, Gyasi Zardes, Will Bruin. Wow talk about talented depth in attack.

Say no to will bruin (he sucks)

Hopefully you can add Shawn Parker and Fabian Hurzeler. But who knows. In 5 years there will be a lot more players we havent heard of yet in the mix

While he did reject the US at the youth level given the Argentinian interest, Hoyos never played for Boca Juniors, Hoyos was always with Estudiantes de La Plata. You might be thinking of Funes Mori.

I get Brooks and I get Johannsson

There is nothing to suggest that Hoyos is even close to the USMNT right now. He hasn't played any meaningful minutes since that serious car accident over two years ago. Now he's off to play for a club that's relegation fodder in Greece.

His competition is Fabian Johnson, Graham Zusi, Holden, Bedoya, Corona, Beasley, Torres, Shea and many others.

2tone, not a personal attack since you're usually pretty right on with your assessment of things but Adu? C'mon man, 9 teams in 9 years. Dude may have tons of talent but he's an obvious plague the locker room. What's the reasoning there?

I'm excited to see Brooks on D. JK gotta figure a way to get him cap tied.

He's probably just thinking 5 years is a long time and he's in that group of talented attacking players who might make a difference at the next level. With that many young players and time you never know who will make the jump that's why predicting much about 2018 is pretty difficult but still fun of course.

of all the players on his list, Adu is the one you question? You even state he has tons of talent, so theres the reason.

He's not a locker room plague. Not making excuses for him but that, I don't feel, is an accurate representation of his issue

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
