To back up BShredders point, I went back through squads from the past 5 years for Bayern Munich II and made a list of all players who have contributed significant first team minutes at Bayern or elsewhere. Aside from the unbelievable class on 08/09 only one player has shown signs of being a great player (Alaba). If Green is Kroos, Muller, or Alaba great, but there are more misses then hits.
One thing in his favor, While few on this board have really seen him play, I'm quite sure Klinsmann has. If he thinks he's good enough to make the US roster, that has to be a positive sign for his future.

08/09:
Toni Kroos
Thomas Muller
Holger Badstuber
Georg Niedermeier (Starter at Stuttgart)

09/10:
Mehmet Ekici (Starting at Werder)

10/11:
David Alaba
Diego Contento
Nikola Sansone (Playing significant minutes at Parma)

11/12:
Takashi Usami (Played at Hoffenheim last year, now in J-League)

12/13:
Emre Can (Playing for Leverkusen)

US Soccer confirms that Julian Green has been called in to train w/#usmnt,but can't play vs. Scotland or Austria since he's tied to Germany.

I'm told that US Soccer would have to file one-time switch on Julian Green's behalf. That process hasn't started yet. #usmnt

Things are heating up. Will be interesting to see what happens next! Kind of like a Breaking Bad episode!

So in lieu of recent news, let's not jump to conclusions that Green will ask US soccer to file that one-time switch.

He comes in trains with the USMNT Klinsmann evaluates then the waiting game begins.

This is nothing but interesting news, it's exciting that he's at least entertaining the idea but I think we already knew that he was given his fathers comments.

I really hope we can get some video of some of the trainings to see how he looks at this upcoming camp.

For those people who saw miracle on ice. If the reports of JK telling Green about a shot at WC which is unlikely. Do you guys think he could be employing that idea so that his player feel threatened. I mean this guy can take a spot even though he had nothing to do with the Qualification process. Making each and every player fighting for that roster spot work even harder just like Hockey olympics in miracle on ice. Or Im probable reading into this too much.

Leave EJ in Seattle, I'd love to have Green in Brazil instead.

This situation is similar to the Joe Gyau situation last year for a young player to come in and train, I don't think he will play a senior game until next cycle, he needs to make his first division debut before we even mention anything about Brazil. Heck he hasn't even filed his one time switch.

Agree with you. Highly doubt he makes the USA squad, unless he plays first team minutes for bayern or goes on loan to another bundesliga team in the winter and tears it up. Then he will have my support for a spot in Brazil.

Joe Gyau didn't even do that well on the Hoffenheim II squad when he played there prior to St.Pauli. Julian Green is ravaging the BM II team immediately. I would say I have higher expectations for Julian Green 2013 than Joe Gyau of 2012.

2 more goals today for Julian. That makes it 15 goals in 14 games. That's one hell of a strike rate, and the best part he is one of the youngest players in the Regionalliga at 18.

Where do you find your info on the Regionalliga? I'm trying to keep up with it a bit more now that there are some prospects to keep an eye on.

Several sources.. Green 2nd leading scorer now.. Extremely impressive since were talikng 90 teams, and out of 2,500 players or so.

We should not look into reserve team performances to much sure it's great good for the players but let's take it with a grain of salt.
