With the positive development of young players like Wood, Brooks, Pulisic, Green, CCV, Rubin, Hyndman, Zelalem, and others the US is beginning to look like a very deep and dangerous team. Sound defensively with good technical ability and a potential lethal attack. We're looking very good down the spine of the team....just need the wide players to emerge and we'll be looking pretty good.

Yes, but I really hope people don't expect all of these guys to just be thrown into the team. Even if it wasn't Jurgen in charge, it still wouldn't happen. I think we're still a good 3-4 years away from being a really, really good team. Would love to be proven wrong, but these guys are all still VERY young.

With Bayern aging up top and him being the only other striker I can see him getting playing time. Imagine a front line rotation that includes Wood, Morris, Pulisic, Morris, Green, Kieswtter, and Zardes that could provide depth we have never had and a rotation which will drive opposing coaches crazy in preparation.

(If Altidore, Boyd, and Johansson can stay healthy that adds more demonsions plus competition to have best player on team)

Ironically, most of the players you listed are far from ready to start for USMNT.

Besides listing Morris twice, Zardes, and Wood are already starting. Pulisic will not be far off, plus Green with a fast start could be a 23 man squad call up. I will always see Morris as a super sub that could put a lot of pressure on a defense with his speed. For me the one that is a bit off is Kieswetter but I believe has a cap, and if he can get into a half a wood or better performance in Germany he will start getting friendly call ups.

Morris doesn't have anywhere near the quality of boyd, rubin, his johannsen.
Morris is very limited in technical ability and isn't the class of those guys.

You are correct, but when Zardes does get starts, its out wide (but he's not a real winger or wide midfielder). He's a striker with a mediocre first touch and a similar level of finishing ability. If he was better in those areas, he would actually merit a look over Jozy. But, as I said, those other players are far from starting. Getting off to a fast start takes at least a month to show that it's consistent, so we are looking at October at the earliest for Kiesewetter and Green. Morris should be called up, but he's not going to start over Jozy. Meanwhile, Boyd/Johannson need to just stay healthy for a couple months and reestablish themselves at the club level, so they are probably November at the earliest.

I agree with everything you said. My point was over next year. I like Zardes starting for one reason plus Green and Kieswetter could be similar and push him out eventually. He let's you play a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 so the US can be flexible to style of play of that game.

I like Morris and I think this last game he showed a lot of maturity. Earlier in season he would have tried to score those two goals, this time he took the pass and left his teammate to take the easy goal. I do not disagree about Johansson or Boyd having more talent. But Morris has one thing over Altidore and those two health. I do not trust them to stay healthy, an injury past means an injury future.

You dont need to be technically gifted to be a successful striker ask Javier Hernandez, Jamie Vardy. Pace is lethal and Jordan has loads of it and that's something you cant teach not to mention his hight pressure and engine. What he has to continue to work on is his finishing and positioning. Oh and his left foot needs work doesnt hurt to improve that either. Not saying he is or isnt better than the other guys mention but there different kinds of strikers but no matter how they play if they score goals thats all that matters. Jordan has been solid for a terrible sounders team in his rookie season at times he's been the only dangerous player when Duece and Lodeiro werent there. Wouldnt be shocked if he has an even better 2nd half season.

Yeah, weird. Wood's the only legit guy on his list as of right now.

"Mediocre" first touch. It must suck to be on these chat boards w/o the anonymity that the rest of us have.

Not sure why you put mediocre in quotes, as my statement was relative to the professional level. And from a USMNT perspective, he could stand to improve it. Doesnt seem like a controversial statement. As far as the anyonymity, I'm not too worried about people finding out who I am from a seldom visited soccer website, cause it sure wouldn't be hard. If anyone actually gives a f***...

As I said a little over a month ago, there is still room on the bandwagon for Green fans and haters alike. Now he is in the first team playing with the other great players. If Ancelotti didn't want him and wasn't going to use him, he wouldn't have made the team. Especially with so many games and some rickety players, it wouldn't shock me to see Green get in games at the beginning of the season. It's a big year for Bayern, especially in the champions league. I think we see substitute appearances from the first game and see where it goes from there. It's up to Green how much time he gets. Yes, Levandowski and Müller are ahead of him obviously, but both are different players than Green. He may still get sold or Bayern could add one more player, but both those seem unlikely at this point. So hop on or off the bandwagon but please, let go of your irrational hate for Green. Only fickle idiots are mad about a guy who scored on his first touch and appearance at a World Cup.

I thought it was a little generous to Zardes to call his first touch "mediocre."

I swear it defies the laws of physics. ESPN should do one of those sports science bits on him.
