There are conflicting reports about that statement.

I don't see a 19 year old kid demanding anything, and I don't see Klinsmann stating anything other than he will have to fight for a WC spot if he files the one-time switch.

I will say this if Julian makes that one-time switch then Zusi is the one it will effect the most.

Reportedly he will file the 1 time switch to play for USA if klissman offers him a spot on the world cup. What does everyone think ? should he do it ? Who is left out, EJ, boyd, Zusi, ? is going to be very tough.. But he did accept the call up for November, all thats next is the 1 time switch.

ANY OF THEM. And I hope JK doesn't worry about hurting people's feelings or being "fair". This is the highest level. The best should play if available.
If you don't love it, leave it, USA #1

Competition, competition, competition. Klinsmann is soccer's version of Pete Carrol. Now if only he could get some real competiton going for that RB spot.

It would affect Boyd and Bedoya the most. For me Zusi is a better big game player than Bedoya (steps it up more).

Julian Green has the potential to be one of the greatest american soccer players of all time. I think you'll have to excuse me, but I am VERY excited about this news.

This is my first time posting by far from my first time on this site. Love the wide range of topic on American players. Some interesting points. That said.

I feel much like one user said, forget a players feelings and loyalty. JK should play the best players possible. We need to come to a point in our national team where we do not act so fairweather and expect great performances from our players. I was excited for Johannsson because he scored his first of many for us. I was excited for Zusi because of the timing and importance of the goal. There is a difference in my excitement, guys like Zusi when they score is an arguing point for people who think they should be in the national team. When guys like AJ, Jozy, Dempsey score it is what they are suppose to do and what we expect. I do not want a team full of Zusi's, guys that we have to argue for their place in the national team. Yeah, maybe when our pool becomes full of world class players then the arguing for a player is good but Zusi is far from world class, same for EJ. Players like them in the future I hope will never be an important part of our pool. More like emergency call-ups. People with actually talent like Green, who has to do it on the top level are what we need. Potential world class talent playing for a world class club. So if reports are true let's get him into the program and hopefully he can get a loan in January and then I am all for him making the WC roster if he warrants it.

But we have to stop making arguments for mediocre players because they have been with the program for awhile. I do think MLS players have an excellent work rate and that is a staple of our national team. So hopefully these skillful players bring that play for 90+ minute mentality and a hard work rate.

Thanks for the medium to post about American footballers in the US and around the world. Awesome site! Sorry for the rambling.

Ok let's lay off of the hyperbole a bit. Jujlian Green has potential, for right now that's where I would leave it.

Would you feel the same if the best available does not include Dempsey or Donovan?

Just have to see if he accepts the callup seems likely that klinsmann has recieved a comittment from him. Also remember bild incorrectly reported jermaine jones meniscus surgery however it is usually right. I would think that holmes, wood, and possibly shawn parker could be called up also. I also think chandler and lichaj get called up my guess is this is a mostly if not all european players.

Aptly put... folks should ease back a whole lot, relax and not debate incessantly about few...

He could but he purposefully chooses not to for whatever reason.

The one problem I have with what I believe you are implying through this is, Graham Zusi is a grown man, Julian Green is a teenager. One plays sports against grown men for a living, the other plays with a U23 team. I hope Julian continues to develop into a can't miss prospect but he will not be on the WC roster. He is simply not ready. We have to put a stop to this type of hyperbole to borrow language from 2tone. We know who is going to be on our WC roster barring injuries, etc.
