Looks like Uruguay and Argentina are the front runners as a joint bid for the 2030 WC.

Which means CONCACAF will have a very good chance at getting the 2026 WC. I have heard rumblings that Mexico and the US are set to square off for the rights to host 2026.

What do you all think will the US beat out Mexico?

The US has more of the necessary infrastructure to support such an endeavor, however most of Mexico's biggest stadiums are located within a 50-100 mile radius of Mexico City, so the logistics of moving people from one venue to the next would be more simple. That said, the US has a lot of nice, new, soccer-specific stadiums that could/should feature in such a tourney.

It's a really tough call, but based on the "you've already had one, it's their turn" doctrine, Mexico is due for one before we get it again.

Well if that is the criteria, then they have had 2 (1970 and 1986 replacing Colombia) so it is our turn

I don't think there's anyway US doesn't host in 2026. It can't go to any Asian(includes Australia) or European teams. Even if Uruguay or Argentina bid for 2026 I doubt FIFA would go back to South America so soon. With Qatar in 2018 there's no need to do northern Africa (one of the last untapped regions) and other than South Africa no real other southern African nations could host. When push comes to shove well bribe Mexico out of the running

@Know Nothing, what about '94 when we hosted?

If you're talking about the number of WCs played in each, then yes it is our turn, so i see what you're saying, but i was thinking more of who'd hosted one more recently.

Yeah, they will give us the tournament in 2026, but change the rules where the host hast to qualify and the champion gets the automatic berth.

Yes, they hosted two before we got our first. That was my point.

The only contender on the rotation criteria in 2026 would be a joint NZ/Australia bid since Oceania has never hosted one.

Australia is not Oceania anymore. They are based in the Asian Confederation. Which means Australia and New Zealand cannot host a joint tournament.

I realize they are in different Associations which is why it would have to be a joint bid to have any real traction. For all practical matters, NZ would be the "host" country while Australia would lease their stadiums to NZ for the tournament.

It is far fetched, but anything is possible with FIFA or UEFA or any of the other governing bodies.

In have a feeling Australia will get it in 2026.. But usa should be one of the favorites, no mexico has almost no shot.. I think uruguay could host a wc alone but i see the idea of argentina being a joint, if it is there the final final will most likely be in uruguay.

You'd like to think that Sunil will use some of his influence to steer the Cup to the US at the earliest opportunity.

Australia cannot get in 2026. Australia is in the Asian confederation. Qatar is in the Asian confederation. Qatar was awarded 2022 which means the Asian Confederation cannot get again until 2034.
