Jozy will have some competition for playing time though. Connor Wickham is England Youth player and Danny Graham has quite a bit of PL experience. That being said, it may be good for him to have to work for his spot.

Connor Wickham is very young and inexperienced and Danny Graham is crap. Jozy's real competition is Steven Fletcher, if they decide to go with one forward.

Disagree about Danny Graham, he is very solid as the SS. Altidore better hope that Di Canio sticks with the 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1....then he just needs to beat out either Fletcher or Graham to play every game.

well considering that sunderland is playing good money to get a striker he will surely give him plenty of time to see how jozy fair. Its just up tp Jozy to put numbers up which he will with player like sessegon

The only thing that matters at this point is that Jozy gains regular playing time or goes out on loan if he's not in the mix. Sitting on the bench is the worst case scenario.

My official prediction is that they're going to do a 2 striker formation with Fletcher (assuming he's not going anywhere) and Jozy/Wickham alternating.

I'm going to go on record as saying that I predict this for Jozy's first season:

Juventus midfielder Emmanuele Giaccherini is going to Sunderland for 10 million dollars. He should be able to help Jozy quite a bit. Good signing.

I'd heard some Giaccherini talk but didn't know they were that close to making it a done deal...definitely good news though

i read about this potential move and i find it hard to believe juventus would let him go after the way he played in the confed cup

Juve has a lot of winger talent, I'm not surprised that they're letting him go.

Juve have talent on the wings but i dont think they're particularly deep in that position but getting 10 million for a player who hardley played for you is good buisness

This should make Jozy second choice for starter, and most certainly the first sub, being able to replace Fletcher (who I would imagine to be the starter) or a midfielder to add a second striker. Looks like PDC is going to be giving him some playing time for sure, unless he rates Wickham higher than Jozy, but personally I don't see that being the case.

Good find. Wickham's promising but I see him like Jozy a few years ago - still somewhat raw. As long as Jozy stays humble and works his ass off, he could probably displace Fletcher too as the top forward.

I'm trying to think back, and if memory serves, Hughes tends to use two strikers in his formation, so we might see Jozy and Fletcher starting together, with Wickham subbing in occasionally.

Also heard about Raul Miereles being a target for the Black Cats after becoming unsettled in Turkey. He'd be a great signing for them as well.

With Giaccherini coming in the midfield too? Wow - that would be huge for them.
