Couldnt come up with the best word so I thought Sucktatude was it. As a federation we went 2-1-9. Only reason we werent shut out of knockout round was because of GD. All that talk of CONCACAF on the up looks bad now.

Well to be fair cuba and el salvador are deffinetly not among the top four u-20 sides in concacaf. Cuba I would say overachieved in the concacaf u-20 never had a chance in the u-20 world cup. El salvador still managed to beat australia u-20 which was no small feat since australia u-20 has a couple of players playing in europe. The United States got incredibly unlucky for their group I mean you have a u-20 world cup with no italy, argentina, germany, and brazil. Yet the world cup group had france, spain, and ghana. United States was also underhanded by bad coaching and tactical decisions especially zimmerman who has scored goals in 2 straight games for fc dallas.

Mexico is still in it and anything is possible in u-20 they just destroyed mali and could face either portugal and spain and save face. Plus who cares about the talk its one u-20 world cup mexico has won a bunch of youth tournaments and the olympics truth is until a world cup is won you cant convince some people so why bother. I feel confident in concacafs youth and adult talent its the highest its ever been in the United States and in concacaf as a whole.

Like many analyst say it not about winning the youth tournament because its not very precise to judge u 20 or u 17 and how they will do in senior team. Its more about recognizing the talent and exposing to them to the world in what better place than the U20 WC. It shows these talented kids there is a bigger world and that they need to work harder to make it. Now there will probably only be a handful of players from these US U20 group that make it to international stage. So the USA got a beat down in the WC fine. That doesnt mean much. Brazil Germany and Argentina didnt even make it. Both Brazil and Argentina were eliminated in the first round. Does that mean a dark age coming to their team. Mexico Ghana and Nigeria have won it a few time does that mean they are becoming world powers? No. It looks nice to win but the general goal for the USA is WC. Every cycle the USA will get more and more talented players by nature so the youth titles will eventually come but its about doing something with that talent and not have the next Adu were theres alot of talent but the fame goes all to his head. Yea El Salvador did better but they had a easier group and when was the last time they made it to an actual WC?

@jzaval,, I get what your saying.. But USA needs to establish championship teams, that USA has no FIFA awards.. when world wide soccer fans are mention USA soccer they think about an avarage team, we havent done anything on any big stage..exico has won youth tournaments, an olympics, and a confederations cup, and been to copa America finals.. So teams respect them unlike USA.. We need to start somewhere, USA knows it too, a sub 17 or sub 20, or olympics are MUCH MORE important than a gold cup.. I would rather win a sub 17.or 20,.than 50 gold cups.. Not that im hating but the gold cup is one of the weakest tournaments world wide...

@admsghs27 Yes and your right too but teams like Mexico have been around for so long and have been competitive that teams know what to expect and respect them. They get 100% support for the sport unlike the USA. Heck the country is like divided when it comes to sports. So its just a matter of time. That is something that will take time. More and more kids playing soccer and once the game is not pay to play it will explode even more. I would say forget the respect because some other country dont give us respect because it's called soccer here. Just that alone has many country not respecting us as a Football nation. And again you have to give the USA some time its only been since 1990 where the sport was started to be taken seriously, Many of these nations have take the sport seriously since 1930 and its hard to catch all that up in just 23 years .

CONCACAF getting 3.5 WC spots is embarrassing, I'll give you that. But. . .

No one gives a s#i+ about U20 results. Except for people in these forums.

Mexico is legit. At the youth level they're actually, a fu*k of a lot more than legit. And at the senior level they are a clock to make the 2nd round of the WC every time. How many other countries make the 2nd round of the WC every time?

I know hindsight is 20/20 but if the US is not is the Group of Death with France, Spain, and Ghana this thread probably wouldn't exist and we would be discussing our next match in the U20 world cup
