Dolo was injured in training and will need orthoscopic surgery on his knee. No timetable on his return, but he could very well miss the qualifiers in September( I think he wasn't a lock to be called up anyway).

His body is clearly starting to wear down. I think this will be his last season for Hannover.

Clearly RB has become an issue. Maybe Chandler will finally step up.

But this could very well open the door for players like Beltran, Lichaj, and Yedlin.

Would not be surprised to see the RB's in September as Chandler and Yedlin.

Also I could see Klinsmann moving on from Dolo permanently.

I don't think he wants to quite yet but is being left no choice.

Here's the story. Says he might be back by September, but realistically it looks like a permanent RB will have to be found. Too bad. A real professional and one of the most consistent performers we've had. Good luck Dolo.

DAMN. Chandler can't be relied upon. It may very well end up being Brad Evans at most of our freindlies and WCQs as starting RB....damn.

chandler will be fine. his flaky attendance for US is in stark contrast to his consistency with nurnberg - 29 BL starts in each of last 2 seasons.

expect to see him at RB in bosnia in august and solidify the position in sept WCQ

im guessing beltran emerges from GC to challenge evans as the emergency option - should dolo really be on his way out,,,

Unless Chandler is a total idiot he'll step in and will be fine. No professional in their right mind would pass up a chance to play in the WC no matter what their previous neurosis. I agree with Rain: he'll play in Bosnia and thus get into the team going forward. Given his B'liga performance over the last few years, there's no reason he shouldn't take the position once he sets his mind to it.

Not the biggest loss (even though I think when on form he is our best rb). The question becomes, does Yedlin (who I believe plays and starts at RB for Seattle) move above Evans (who does not start at RB for Seattle) on the depth chart when the U-20 WC is finished?

If not Lichaj, then we really need to start looking at Zach Loyd

We will see with Lichaj at Nottingham. Chandler will step in and take over RB. We won't pass it up. He is very young, very talented, and the World Cup is way too much exposure. He is pretty much waltzing in for a starting role if he shows up and gives any semblance of effort. He won't pass that up.

Our depth chart is rounding itself out as of now, and I see Evans being the emergency RB for the tournament, unless someone emerges (Yedlin I suspect may show his face in Jan. camp after this U-20 performance) like Lichaj.

I thought Yedlin impressed at the World Cup. not saying he deserves a spot of the flight to brasil or Costa Rica but I wouldn't mind him being on the roster for Bosnia. let him train with the big boys.

yedlin will not be called in before january in all likelihood.

can we let the kid finish up his rookie season at least?

curious that there is not more love for beltran. only 25, 3rd overall pick out of UCLA in 08 - guy has been already been very good for RSL for 5+ seasons. a little "exposure" might be enough to get him over to a better league in europe, where we would find out if he can raise his level

anyhow, no reason to rush yedlin along,,,

I get where your coming from. But that being said 20 years old isn't too young to be in the natty and our right and left backs have been sources of frustration for the mnt for as long as I can remember(mostly lb).

Calling him up for one camp and missing a game, if that, isn't a big deal at all. And a trip to Europe to practice with duece, Jozy and the others would be a good test and opportunity to learn.

The camp in January is a kind of laughable. A game against scrubs, training in SD and and Carson isn't really a chance to see what the youngsters truly got.

In addition, between chandler, Evans and lichaj our list of right backs isn't exactly world beaters.

Steve Cherundolo update: played a whole half in a Hannover test match yesterday and even scored a goal. Closer to a full comeback now.

Good to hear.
