Taken off in the 60th minute. Good performance coming back from injury.

Tough, tough day for Reading. Looked as if they were gonna be able to hold on to that last playoff spot, and then Brighton got the winner in stoppage time to nab 6th.

Here's to hoping Danny can get fit and maybe make a move to a mid-lower table PL side.

Not sure that would be great for him unless he was guaranteed to start regularly which wouldn't happen. Hard to argue that moving to Reading was a bad move for him and also hard for me to see anyone argue that staying there wouldn't continue to be good for him.

Williams undergoes knee surgery. Don't know the timetable of his return, but my guess 4-6 weeks at least he will be out. So looks like D-Will will probably miss the friendly in September.

Scored the game winner yesterday for reading @ wolves. I bumped the Morales thread yesterday. Those two (Danny and Alfredo) should be our starters at cm in the march friendlies- if healthy of course. Williams is coming back strong!

williams is a beast... with very good ball skills

with morales and williams coming on so strong i am a rare supporter (still) of jones to CB. if it works, fine, if not, lets figure it out sooner rather than later

either way, time for these guys to get their chances

Derby down to 10 men. Still 0-0 at the half.

Had a goal scoring opportunity but a Derby player got in front of it, even though it looked like a clear handball.

Needs to watch himself though. Got a yellow early.

world class goal from williams. Still rate him for national team even with his not so good show for national team vs costa rica. To be fair no one looked good
Regardless

The curve on that was Roberto Carlos-esque. It looked like it was going straight at the keeper and took a vicious left into the back of the net. That's why I love when someone shoots with the laces. It is unpredictable but when it works it is brilliant and unstoppable.

I think he has to be our DM going forward. I have forgotten all about the Costa Rica match. He has been one of our most consistent club performers on a team that should be fighting for promotion. I think Morales needs more chances as well. Stop with Beckerman, he has served his time. But Cameron could go to DM if Brooks-Miazga work out. Cameron is too good to be left off the field. So Cameron could be the back up CB and start at DM or RB, if JK wants to play Yedlin at RM. If Yedlin could somehow develop a left foot, I would love to put him at LB and keep Fabian forever at LM.

To me this was one of Jurgen's biggest mistake of 2015. He never really integrated DWill or Morales into that DM position. I think one of those two should clearly be the starter. 2016 should have seen them each get 4-5 starts with our A team to see who fits better. Instead we kept getting Beckerman and a 75% healthy Jermaine Jones. Now we have to spend the beginning part of 2016 trying to figure it out when we should already know the answer.

For the record I would give Morales first crack. He's the engine for a surprisingly good Bundesliga team (11th place in 1st year after promotion)

Agree with everything you write. But I would choose Williams over Morales at point because it seems like Williams has more of a motor. Morales is the safe pick. But I would only slightly prefer Williams to Morales. You cannot go wrong with either.

I just don't get some people.
I'm all for Danny Williams getting chances, etc. But to play in the big games that actually matter you have to show something at some point that you can actually play in the international game (unless there is no one else at your position).
I'm no fan of Beckerman, but he at least has shown he can put in a good performance in meaningful games. Williams has looked bad in friendlies. He really hasn't had a good performance yet. He has had good moments, but not a good performance (full 90') for the USMNT.
So while I'd love to see Williams moving forward (provided he actually starts playing for the USMNT the way he plays for Reading), I'm glad we didn't see him against Mexico, etc.

While Beckerman "has shown he can put in a good performance" he has also shown that he is capable of stinking up the place as well. Add to the fact that Beckerman is now 33 yrs old and will be 36 by the time the 2018 WC rolls around. There comes a time when a team has to move on from a player....and that time has come for Beckerman, Gordon, Rimando, Wondoloski, and Davis.
I'm not saying that Danny Williams is the answer to replace Beckerman, but Williams, Morales, & Kitchen are likely the closest we've got at the moment.

What chances has DWill had this year? He has 3 starts and 3 sub appearances, a total of 325 minutes played (~3 games & 1 sub appearance). In that time he scored 2 goals. In his starts he played in the disheartening CR game where no one tried because no one wanted to play that match after losing to Mexico.
Brazil - We were dominated, already down 1-0 when he came on, and he scored a late goal in 55 minutes off the bench.
Germany - played 1st half. Left with game 1-1, in Germany.
Netherlands- Scored tying goal late, game changed when he came on.
Switzerland- Went 90' in 1-1 tie, US would have won had Jozy not gotten the dumb red.
Those are the 5 matches he played significant minutes. 2 of 5 he scored, the only two losses the whole team didnt show up to play.

Morales got less than 300 minutes. Beckerman got almost 600 minutes (170 in friendlies and 300 in gold cup that could have went to the other guys)

Jermaine Jones got 670 minutes including 370 minutes in friendlies.

Just counting friendlies, thats 670 minutes, 7 starts, that could have been divied up between those guys to help see which, if either, would be ready for the 2016 important matches.
