Romain Gall is one of the best players on the current US U18 team. Last month he had 2 goals and an assist against the Czech Republic. Then he scored against Portugal in a 1-1 draw just days later

He's a dual national with France and plays at FC Lorient. He could be a big player on the next U20 team heading towards the 2015 World Cup in New Zealand

Here's a new interview with Romain

Love the player, but that interview to me sounded like if France comes calling in the future that he would switch. Too early to speak of that, but did this happen to come up at all?

I gathered that too. But if we keep giving him options maybe he'll stick with us

I think he'd be undecided and conflicted if that situation came up. It's natural and justified. He was born in France and has only been a US citizen for 2.5 years.

My guess is that France is so jacked with talent at the moment, the situation is probably unlikely. to even present itself. Gall was an above average player in the U19 championship in France. That's a long way from where the French youth teams are these days.

Like all dual nationals, if you treat them well, they'll be unlikely to leave the program. Benji Joya was the same way when he grew up cheering for Mexico. Gall seems happy these days and as he plays for the US as the next U20 WC approaches, he'll probably be even more excited.

Gedion isn't a dual national. He now lives in London which complicates his situation even futher.

I am sure if France showed interest my guess is that he would probably take that chance with France. I am fine with that because the 2015 US U-20 team is pretty stacked.

But he sounds like a very cool cat. Just as long as he gives everything to the cause while playing in a US shirt.

Zalelam is not a US citizen.

He already played for usa youth teams before.. I believe he is a citizen and he is elgible to play for usa.. Wouldnt be suprise if he gets a sub 17 invite the next camp..

Nope he is not a US citizen. He has never officially played for a US youth team. He may have been invited to a camp, but then US soccer found out that he was not a US citizen.

He has a green card, but is not currently residing in the US. You have to actually reside in the US for set amount of years before applying for US citizenship. Also he is firmly in Germany's youth set-up now.

Yes Tall is playing for France

But as good as gone? These terms are overstated when dealing with youth players for exceptional soccer countries.

The road ahead for guys like Parker, Brooks, Tall, Toljan, & Kennedy is very long and difficult. It wouldn't surprise me if none of them made it to the senior teams of France, Germany, or Brazil. In fact, they could all turn out to be very, very good players but not good enough for these national teams.

When looking at Germany's U19 team or even U21, most of these players don't make the step up to the senior national team. The United States is lucky when 4 players from a U20 class make the jump to the senior NT. It's a big jump.

So yeah, the US may lose one of the players mentioned above but I'm sure a few will eventually make the move to the US (assuming if they're good enough for the US).

A guy like Ponce is as good as gone. Same with Aurilo Saco Vertiz.
