ok. after changes i think best 11 is:

-----------EJ----------
-----------LD----------
shea-torres-*beckerman*-mix-corona
beasley--besler--goodson--beltran

as of now my hypothesis' are:
- goodson > gonzo
- beltran > parkhurst

- realistically beckerman will return but would like to see a torres / mix CM pairing v el salvador - about the only one we have not seen. 2 starts for holden and it just has not been very good. if he gets another start it really needs to be better. if he is not back to form, fine, he can continue to find his form back at bolton.
- if shea looks poor again id pull LD back and put wondo up front

- would expect to see several changes from QF to SF with short turn-around

Apparently, Gonzo doesnt come until the semis...

--------EJ--------
Lando---Ale---Corona
----Holden--Mix------
Beas-Besler-MOF-Beltran

Still waiting to see Landon on the wing, Ale in the middle. I can see Beckerman starting, but I'd rather go with Holden, because I know he's better. Have to let him fight through the rust.

I agree with everything in this post. Cept maybe Parkhurst for Beltran but I don't really care. Or maybe Klinsmann pairs Besler with Goodson because they compliment eachother nicely and then put MOF at RB? I think it's plain by his club play that Ale is much better at the 10 than the wing.

Hate to say it but it will be worst than the rose bowl fan base wise.. Last source from la selecta was 63k tix purchase by salvadorians... Is gonna be a tougher atmosphere than at azteca... 104 degree feel at kickoff which is bad for usa.. Im still sticking with a 2/1 USA win in overtime..

This Honduras Costa Rica game is intense. This is what a true rivalry with some hatred looks like. Lots of yellows, players yelling at each other. It's fantastic. Also Najar with first international goal

Three players JK will have no option but to call up for WCQ: Donovan, Holden, & Mix

A lot of players have shown well but the real tests start now as Honduras(and if we win) the winner of Panama/Mexico will show us who is ready for the big time. I'm curious to see Holden gets back into the starting 11 as he had the day off today. I'm figuring with the quick turn around Stu-S-A will start v. Honduras. I'm also guessing EJ starts and Gonzalez will be paired with Besler. I would not be surprised to see a few other players get the nod in this game as Honduras is not as good as CR....width will be key.

Im glad I wasnt at the US vs el salvador game....

Id be sitting in jail because I wouldve knocked out every person in the crowd who threw the shit at the US players. Not person there wouldve stopped me.

On a happier note

I want 2 scenario's

Panama to beat mexico or we see mexico in the final and destroy them

I understand that same desire I prob would have joined you in jail too lmao. But anyways atm its a bit tough whether we wanna play Mexico or not. By that i mean we are all but confident that we can beat them. But it would be even funnier to see them lose to Panama.

On another note. I will admit Beckerman has done well vs El Salvador. Not an RSL fan but you have to give him alot of credit. That amazing pass from the back was amazing but hope he can keep it up. Very impressive how Jurgen has made this team. One question still lingers in my head. Are Jurgen Fitness tough fitness training a factor in the other teams destruction? From Guetemala to Belize to Cuba to El Salvador we have seen the team destroy them once they got tired. That El Salvador game was just to much for them to handle and the USA kept moving the ball up to final third and back and up again constant pressure

My projected lineup vs Honduras
EJ
Holden-LD-Corona
Beckerman-Mixx
Beasley-Omar-Besler(if healthy)-Parkhurst
Rimando

I dont see us losing to Honduras with this lineup. They were extremely fortunate to walk out of that game with a win (a clear handball in the 75ish minute in the box)

If Holden starts and I think he should, it should be in place of Beckerman. Torres is the better LW option at this point, assuming Donovan starts centrally. With Beasley pushing up very high, Torres' ability to play inside opens up the sideline.

I cant see JK taking out Beckerman. And with Mixx and Corona looking strong unless Holden comes in for Torres I dont think we'll see him start

You are prolly right about Beckerman.

The lovefest by the media for this guy is mindnumbing. He is obviously well liked amongst them so he always gets the benefit of the doubt. Would of been interesting to see him against Costa Rica, easily the toughest game the US has played so far. Yes, Becks made a couple nice passes. But for some reason, all the mistakes, slow play, extra touches, go by the wayside with this guy.

If he receives a pass from the left side and wants to switch it over to the right side, it takes him a minimum of 3 touches on the ball, which is awful. Defenders are able to close on him way too easily. There were a couple times he was dispossessed because he was too slow to make the next play. He's been lucky playing against bad teams. Better teams will capitalize on those mistakes. Why those instances are quickly forgotten for him, i dont know.
