If there's anything to grab from this game its that Donovan isn't done yet. A solid gold cup performance and he's back in the world cup plans no question.

Valid, but this isn't a bunch of junior high kids...5-0

Doesn't matter....especially if the CBs are used to their keepers maybe staying on their line so they know to clear it out...and Rimando may be used to the CBs holding off forwards. It's easy to say when you aren't a CB/keeper.

Holden was the man of the match for me. Unbelievable quality out of the CM from Mix and Holden. Landon is right back where he left off. Too bad he didn't get his 49th assist on Wondo's goal. It's only a matter of time now.

Here are my thoughts:

Torres and Beckerman should not be the starting CM's.

Holden and Diskerud were unstoppable. Holden flat out balled.

Donovan woke up and then proceeded to make everyone realise why he is still the man.

Corona was decent, but I am still not sold.

If Onyewu can get to a club were he will be playign week in and week out then he is obviously still in the equation for the 2014 WC.

Parkhurst is decent, but not very dynamic.

Congrats Wondo.

Beckerman + Torres = 1 goal

Holden + Diskerud = 5 goals

The numbers are in, people...

Shea had some really good moments. It's a shame he won't be on the Gold Cup team.

Concacaf does many many things wrong but making this Gold Cup count for something was a really smart idea. It makes every federation gives something to strive for and allows the US to show it depth

I think we know what shea brings. He just needs playing time at Stoke. He should be a lock come 2014 if he plays alot of minutes. I dont think Jose Torres did so bad either. Kyle Beckerman the thing I kept seeing him is pass the ball back instead of push forward. Torres and Beckerman < Mix and Holden. Who knows we might see a Holden at LM with either Mix , Torres or Beckerman (sadly) at a CM pairing. Seeing as JK is being careful with young players he will put Mix as Sub. Castillo did well going up as well but I still feel he is more suited for LB. He was a threat going forward but idk if anything castillo and Beasley should have switched roles at least for this match. Beaslry bring LM and Castillo being LB
Gomez seems to be the ideal starter with either Corona or Bedoya behind him. At this moment both Corona and Bedoya are about the same level by that i mean neither one seems better than the other. Although Corona was the one getting us early free kicks in the first half while bedoya disappeared before his first goal. Happy that wondo finally finished a goal. Bruin almost got his. I still wanted to see Jack Mac. At striker we have alot of good options if any get a knock.
These always seems to be the concern huh? Frankly I didnt like how Parkhurst played. He played okay at maximum best. He kept giving away possession at first half. The Goodson and Gooch only thing ill say is good help us in that. If Guatemala had more technical ability they would have gotten some goals.. Beasley good like always.
Rimando had me nervous there. What the heck was he doing going out of his box when Goodson had the ball controlled. that wasnt the only time either. The Communication has to get better from the CBs and GK.
Well what can you say by the end of the Gold Cup LD will be in route to A team. He not only needed that confidence PK but 2nd goal to relief any pressure he might of had. Now he can go out into matches and play like we know

Overall the team still needs the Chemistry that will automatically come with more games.

Shea was dangerous when he was in. Mostly in part because he was horribly defended, but he still made efforts t stay wide and took on players to get into dangerous positions. He also made good runs to pressure the defense, and made good decisions when he had the ball in those scenarios. It was all in all a good outing in the second half. I was very proud of our subs. But echoing 2tone, we'll suffer without Brek Shea. I like where our team is at this point.

Will bruin sucks!

Im glad it took a b team tournament to show Beckerman is garbage, slow, and predictable.

I dont like parkhurst, he plays scared.

Diskerud/Holden are sick

Nick Ramando does some funny sh*t with the ball.

Wow, Holden is the real deal. Incredible half from him and clearly man of the match. Everything changed when he came in (granted Mix was very solid also) I really hope we see a lot more of that partnership and a lot less of Torres and Beckerman, especially in these games where we expect to have a lot of the ball. I also thought Mix looked bigger than before, maybe he's growing up some more physically but I thought he looked much more solid like a real CM.

Donovan had a good game, interesting that he played so much better once he was moved centrally... basically playing where Dempsey usually does and doing a lot more than Dempsey usually does too. With Zusi playing so well on the right, might be worth while to see what Lando can do on the left.

Onyewu looked pretty solid, granted wasn't tested much over the top but he was strong in his challenges and better than I remember in his passing. Still hate the partnership of two tall, slow CB's though.

Corona was ok wide but terrible centrally, granted maybe he would have been great if he had Holden/Mix behind him.

Castillo's not a midfielder and hopefully he doesn't see any time there at all ever again. Parkhurst looked solid but rarely got forward in a game where the possession was incredibly lopsided... could try Castillo at RB.

Bottom line, Holden looks like a player on another level. Can't wait to see more from him.

WOW, what a performance! Kinda lost for words on this one. I think the biggest story, even bigger than Donovan, was the performance by HOLDEN. Like everyone has said, Holden and Mix were awesome. Is Holden back?? Well he sure looked like a BOSS tonight!

Shea was really really good. Bedoya looked good. Donovan was soo much better closer to goal than at RM. We played so well that WONDO actually scored.

Castillo is a LB not a LM. Onyewu and Goodson did very well. Did you all see Goodson's goal?? WHAA??

Very good game once holden and diskerud came on would be stunned if they didnt start against belize. Really unimpressed with beckerman and torres I dont think they are international quality im sorry but if you cant play passes forward against guatamela I dont think you should be playing for our national team... Every pass from torres and beckerman was either backwords and sideways. Landon donovan playing in the dempsey role is where he plays best on the field. Diskerud and holden were great they pressed and defended when they needed to. Brek Shea is a beast on the wing and I still think if he plays well for stoke city he could deffinetly break into the starting 11 or be a supersub.

I loved that klinsmann kept telling them to attack even late in the game. I always felt with bob bradley they started out too slow and only imposed themselves for mabye 30 minutes of the 90 minutes. With klinsman constant pressure on the ball constant attacking I think Klinsmann has really gotten this team to play the kind of football I like. My only worry for this team is defense attack looks great but in close games I still cant trust goodson and onyewu when the chips are down. Onyewu and goodson did good but its against guatamela who rarely threatned due to the constant tracking back of midfielders.

Our Starting 11 should look something like this versus belize

Rimando; Parkhurst, Onyewu, Goodson, Beasley; Diskerud, Holden; Corona,Donovan , Castillo; Gomez. I would make 2 changes diskerud and holden obviously since they played much much better then torres and beckerman did. I would make 3 changes shea for castillo but shea is not playing in the gold cup 4 us. I think the back 4 did a decent job didnt need 2 do much beasley played the best of the 4. Onyewu did good and goodson got a goal but was average. Parkhurst I would like to see dropped for beltran or orozco fiscal but I am a realist and I think Klinsmann sticks with him although I wouldnt mind a change.
