I think my only issue is that we have a list of offensive guys which trust me is really exciting but I still worry about the defense. It was an issue for U23 Olympic team, u20, and u17. We can be as excited as we want but don't they have to make sure they can score 12 goals in 3 games if they're gunna let in 9 like we did this tournament...sorry for the negative sound of this post I'm usually the most optimistic sports person I know but it just worries me...

With the end of one cycle another begins. Hold onto your butts ladies and gents because the 2015 U-20 cycle could be a very special cycle. With the talents of Julian Green, Zach Pfeffer, Kanoai Bailey, Zach Steffen, Junior Flores, Ben Spencer, Romain Gall, Shaq Moore, Jacole Turner, Rubio Rubin, Joel Sonora, Russel Cannouse and the list goes on the 2015 US cycle is stacked at almost every position.

Don't mourn for the 2013 cycle, it's done. Move forward, look forward, and never stop believing. 2015 could turn heads.

Dont forget Illoski. Id be shocked if he isnt a major part of the cycle

So it looks like Mexico will skate by based on crushing Mali. The 4-1 win gave them the goal differential over Ghana so they only need one of the following results to advance:

Columbia beat El Salvador (Assumes Turkey doesnt lose by one to Australia while scoring 4+ goals)
Egypt win or draw vs England (not winning by 3+ goals)
Uzbekistan win vs Uruguay (assumes NZ doesnt beat Croatia by 6 goals)

It would take a huge shock for El Salvador to get a point against one of the top 3-4 teams.

I will say three things Ramos was at fault at that doomed this team. A. Not identifying enough talented CB's. B. Not identifying a true #9 for his 4-3-3. C. Never truly identifying his best starting 11. Those are pretty big things to be at fault for.

I think he deserves another cycle, and hopefully he learns from his mistakes.

A lot of his decisions seemed pretty suspect to me, the Zimmerman snub chief among them... He seems to be heading in the right direction though, we weren't shut out in any of those group games.

Seems like we always have a problem finding a balance between being really solid offensively and maintaining our defensive shape and ability to track back to prevent the counterattacks.

All three teams from Group A made it through to the quarterfinals. That should say a lot about the competition that the 3rd place team beats the 1st place team in another group.

We clearly underrated Ghana. They eliminated Portugal, one of the most favourite teams to win the U-20 WC.
