So there is Tim Howard at number 1. After him it is wide open.

There are three guys I think people should keep an eye on

1) Caleb Patterson-Sewell. YA has an article on him today. He can be the starter for Vitoria Setubal and US Soccer told him he is on their radar. If he gets minutes for Setubal, it'll be interesting.

2) Steve Clark: off to a great start in Norway. 9 goals allowed in 12 games. I think he's likely called in for January camp.

3) Ryan Meara: he is flirting with Ireland but he is having a great rookie year with New York. Handled the pressure well after a few mistakes early in the season. He is improving with every game.

Good article on Steve Clark today here at YA.

He's a big reason why Honefoss are looking good in Norway's top tier right after being promoted

No Bill Hamid? Surely he's in the race, even after OQ. Looks great for DCU consistently.

Bill Hamid appears to have the Edgar Castillo condition right now, where he gets into his own head too much at the National Team level and under-performs. As with Castillo, it will probably change with age and experience, but with CPS and Clark being a few years older and closer to their prime, and being the sole reasons that their teams are where they are (without CPS, Atletico probably would have been demoted to the Portuguese third division last season), I think they deserve a look more than Hamid. Although again, I'm a huge proponent of putting them all into one camp and letting them duke it out.

If Clark keeps it up and CPS gets the starting spot with Vitoria (which is why I think Vitoria bought him, Vitoria's defense/goalkeeper are not that good), I think we'll see them both within the next six months. Unless Australia gets CPS first.
Hooray!

When might we see Patterson-Sewell? August? Oct? Jan?

I'd say September camp if he starts for Vitoria Setubal, their keeper from last season has signed elsewhere so it is appearing that he will.

Setubal just sold their top keeper from last season to make way for Patterson-Sewell to start.

Patterson-Sewell could be the 2nd or 3rd US keeper soon

my 2 cents: my rankings 25% current 50% 2014 25% 2015 and beyond
1- T Howard= easy number 1
2- B Guzan= needs to play more
3- N Rimando= can he get any better
4- B Hamid= looks like the future
5- S Johnson= solid prospect
cant rate Patterson-Sewell or Clark havent seem them play. R Meara 4.5 if he plays for the US. feeling much better than a couple of years ago when Q Westburg and C Seitz where the future. Go USA !!
P.S. Thanks Yanks Abroad for forums free of all that 13 year old behavior that goes on in other sites. A fan for years, keep up the good work.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Patterson-Sewell is our third GK in 2014 beating out Sean Johnson.

Agreed. Let's see if he starts and performs in Portgual though, which should place him above Johnson and Hamid, but knowing Klinsmann, who knows.

Yeah I have Patterson-Sewell climbing up the depth chart soon. Especially if Guzan does not win the starter's job for Villa.

I saw on twitter today Honefoss supporters were starting a campaign to naturalize Steve Clark into becoming a Norwegian citizen.

They are more or less joking about that but they are serious in how much they love this guy.

Clark is having an outstanding season in Norway
