Cherundelo will be the starting RB at the WC14, and we should all be glad for it. (barring injury).

for some reason peoples understanding of current RB options seems wildly misconstrued.

yedlin and lichaj are no where near being in the picture

obviously you start with your 2 bundesliga options - chandler and dolo

then you have the guy who just started last 4 games - evans

then you have 3 options for gold cup, all guys who JK seems to like - parkhurst, orozco and beltran

id rank then like this:

1) chandler
2) cherundolo

barring injury, they will both go to brazil

if one or both is injured:

3) evans
4) beltran
5) orozco
6) parkhurst

id say beltran has best potential out of this group. gold cup will determine who is competing with evans for that emergency spot

everyone else = good luck next cycle

Sorry, but must disagree. Dolo would be ideal, I agree, but sadly I think he will not shake the injury bug. Chandler's attitude leaves some doubt to his commitment.

As for Evans, no thanks. His passing is sub par...a few of his lazy, misguided passes led to counters the other night.

but after that JK has demonstrated his preference for parkhurst, orozco and beltran. one of these guys will emerge as an option during GC - not yedlin or lichaj

i dont think it is realistic that a guy who JK has not called yet this cycle through gold cup will suddenly emerge in the fall or spring and displace the 4 guys he has shown he prefers (chandler, dolo, evans and gold cup starter)

Not saying it will happen, but considering Parkhurst isn't young, Orozco nor Beltran haven't been all stars, if Lichaj shines at NF or Yedlin shines this U-20 WC and the rest of the MLS season, I could see one of them given a shot.

As the above said, Cherundelo is aging and at his age at any given point he could see a speedy decline. Hope he's still fine for 2O14, but who knows.

Chandler, can we convince him the plane he has to get into is actually a train? Currently no faith in him although I hope he's our starter for 2O14.

I wouldn't say it's unrealistic to think someone else could emerge. That goes for almost any position. A year in this sport is a long time.

Fair point, except for the fact that Evans was picked ahead of all of the above for the qualifiers and he does not usually play the position for his club team.

As for one of the above stepping up and having a good GC...it is possible. But it is also possible for Yedlin to step up and have a stellar U20 WC against arguably tougher competition than the GC would offer.

Every WC year someone comes out of nowhere to earn a spot...I think it will be Yedlin.

Also remember the friendly in Bosnia later this year. If Lichaj earns time at NF he could be called into this game.

I'd say Beltran then Yedlin. Evans prob wont get usmnt pt in midfield so he can make RB his own.

I still believe in Chandler. He's the number one RB in my eyes.

The friendly is in August, very close to the start of the Euro season. Not sure if Lichaj will have time to impress enough to get a look since the dates damn near coincide

He will not have time to impress. And Klins has snubbed him hard and I don't see that changing. He called in guys like Corey Ashe over him for goodness sakes. He is not rated highly. Its true he may come storming out the gate... But we'll see. He is a fan favorite (I admit I love him too) but its sort of an Adu syndrome.

Chandler will be the guy. He will show up because he wants to be in the WC. Its the best thing for a young guy's career. And he will beat out anyone save Dolo who is age dependent.

Not sure why everyone is so concerned about RB. The real questions are on the left side. AT THE MOMENT, our best LB is also our best LM. The problem is Klinsmann doesnt trust anybody else other than Johnson or Beasley to play LB. Bealsey WILL fail at the World Cup. Lets not kid ourselves. He'll be a year older and he is already not a good defender. He can survive against CONCACAF, but the World Cup is a different story.

Johnson is going to be our LB. We need Shea to break out at Stoke and I think he will. My fingers are tightly crossed. Its not a certainty. Our next best option is probably Donovan, but I want him on the right side.

I like Cameron for the other CM spot because with him and Bradley, their roles seems to be defined on the field. Bradley is your box to box and Cameron stays back, while also providing some really nice service forward. Johnson and Chandler will have more freedom to get forward as well.

What I think JK will do:
--------Jozy----------
-Fabian-Dempsey-Zusi
----Bradley-Jones-------
-Beasley-Besler-Gonzo-Dolo-
-------Howard---------

1st off the bench:
Forward: Donovan
Outside Mid: Donovan
Inside Mid (Attack): Holden
Inside Mid (Def): Cameron
Outside Back: Chandler
Center Back: Cameron
Keeper: Guzan

What I would do:
--------Jozy----------
-Fabian-Dempsey-Donovan
----Bradley-Jones-------
-Beasley-Besler-Cameron-Dolo-
-------Howard---------

1st off the bench:
Forward: EJ for Jozy, Donovan inside for Dempsey and Zusi on
Outside Mid: Zusi
Inside Mid (Attack): Holden
Inside Mid (Def): Cameron up, Gonzo in
Outside Back: Chandler
Center Back: Gonzo
Keeper: Guzan
