debating with soccer fans is like debating with sci fi nerds at a comic con convention on their favorite super hero

Technical skill is a broad term, cool i get it ! IMO I apply technical ability to dribbling, possession, etc

honestly who gives a sh*t

When it all comes down to it, your favorite super hero bradley can pass the ball, can he get by defenders with his "technical dribbling skills"? NO

Bradley is actually really smooth with the ball in tight spaces.

It might not get as noticed since he doesn't do it close to the goal, but in the midfield and even in the defensive third, his dribbling often saves the US possession

This is just one of many examples of his game. This is a creative, nonflashy player that is great on the ball, makes smart runs, smart passes, and (in my opinion) exemplifies what a midfielder should be. This is a technical and creative player. Leave the step overs for Eddie Johnson.

The funny thing is EJ is one of the least technical players on the team.

I think it's time for both Klinsmann and Jones to realize that Bradley is the Alpha at CM not Jones. Either Jones needs to understand his role better i.e. KLinsmann making Jones understand his role i.e. telling Jones that he is Bradley's sidekick or bring in a player that understands that i.e. Cameron or Holden.

The center of the park is better when Bradley can run it.

Jones continually bogged down the attack by taking two or three unnecessary touches on the ball, and then trying to hit a 40 yard ball where 1 out of 8 came off.

Yeah, jones was pretty bad tonight. I miss good jones from the Germany and Belgium games...unfortunately (in my opinion) we mostly get this version of Jones. Maybe we can blame it on the concussion, but 2tone you are correct...Bradley would literally stop and look for Jones before he would advance or even pass. Then, when Jones had the ball, it was a very mixed bag.

Actually if you look at the best central midfielders in the world they are very good at holding but also making the right pass at the right time. Bradley is so important because he makes the right pass whether its on the wing or right down the middle. Think about it like this if this was the nfl bradley would be like a really good pocket quartback. He makes all the right passes but he doesnt nessecarily get by the defense by himself. Thats why bradley is so important you need a guy like him on your team. Soccer these days is built on possesion and technical ability look at spain.

It is especially important to get past a defender, if you are a winger or an attacker. If you are in central midfield it is so important to have someone control possesion make the right passes and read the game. Honestly why are you comparing soccer fans to sci fi nerds its riduclous .I play soccer at my college I am a senior do I think I will play professionally probably not it would be nice but to say that just because I know about soccer somehow I am a scifi nerd its riduclous. The reason why its so important to hold possesion and make the right passes is because it frustrates you so much if the other team is holding the ball and they keep making passes out wide or run at you and make a pass so far away from you.

I speak from personal expirence but I also speak as someone who has grown up and breathed the game for pretty much my 21 years in this world. So dont compare me to some god dang sci fi nerds its stupid it lends no credibility to your argument. Plus you are better then name calling you can bring some good ideas but dont automically discount the importance of bradley just because he doesnt always beat his man. Soccer is a game of 90 minutes your job is to win however you can not run up and down the field for 90 minutes straight so holding possesion and making the right passes is so important that is why michael bradley is such an important part of the team. He plays for roma one of the top five italian clubs he is very talented and highly regarded. Considering that de rossi got benched and bradley started speaks volumes about his talent level.

Bradley got criticized when his dad was the coach because he did not deserve to be in the national team at that point in time. He was simply not good enough. Period.

AT THAT POINT IN TIME, he would start every game when he was not good enough to and when there were other players that were better than him. And he got criticized because it was very clear that his dad would play him in that role because Michael was his son.

THAT IS WHY HE WAS CRITICIZED WHEN BOB BRADLEY WAS THERE.

Now it is a different story. He has developed, matured, and become a better player. He is much better now than he was about 4 years ago. But 4 years ago (more like 6-7 years ago) he started every game because his dad was the coach. Not because he was good enough, not because he deserved it, but because daddy wanted to make sure that his son was a national team star.

But like I said, now is a different story. He has earned his keep, he is much better, and he deserves some of the credit for USMNT success.

Bradley is the man. He keeps it simple, makes the right pass, and let's the ball do the work. Unlike the earlier part of his career when his temper would get the best of him and when we was erratic, he's now a calming influence in midfield and is a tactician thinking 2 or 3 steps ahead at all times. There's a reason he starts for Roma next to greats like Totti and De Rossi.

Bradley can't dribble past players? Did you miss his barm storming dribble/ runs against Panama.

Did you miss his 40 yard weaving dribble through 5 Honduran players last night?

Agreed. JK needs to realize that if Jones is going to play, he needs to stay back and let Bradley take the going forward role. When Jones tries to run things going forward, he ends up losing the ball more often than not and neutralizes MB. This is MB's team to run now despite not being the captain. He creates for Deuce, Jozy, and the wingers and needs the freedom from JK to do so.
