In the last tune up game before the WC The U-20's are taking on Portugal's U-20's.

At Halftime the score is tied 1-1.

Villarreal with a good free kick for the goal.

Luis Gil may have sustained a concussion. Hopefully he will be good to go against Spain next week. Danny Garcia was subbed in for him.

This was the starting line-up:

---------Alonso-------
Villarreal----Gil------Mario
-------Tapp--Joya-----
OCe-----Torre---Stanko---Yedlin
----------Cropper-------

A bit surprised O'Neill didn't start. Hopefully he didn't sustain an injury in training.

Halftime subs:

O'Neill in for Torre
Cuevas in for Mario

From what I can gather, Yedlin has been the most dynamic player for the US.

Portugal leads in shots 10-4 and Shots on goal 7-3

Just a friendly, but Portugal is a U-20 WC participant, and a good side that the US tearing apart right now.

No they are playing 45 minute halves now. It's just a friendly/final tune up game before Spain.

See what adding Villarreal, O'Neill, Gil, and Yedlin has done for this U-20 side. They are much better and more of a threat when you add guys that are consistently playing big boy soccer.

Mario was pretty good in the first half as well.

No word yet on Gil if he sustained a concussion

63rd minute Lopez in for Joya.

Looks like Ramos is going to try to shut down this game defensively.

Being a friendly they should be able to make up to 6 subs.

Ramos has made 4 subs so far.

80th minute still US up 3-1. Portugal hasn't threatened at all in the second half.

Pineda was subbed on for Villarreal in the 72nd minute.

81st minute Acosta in for Hernandez. That's all 6 subs used by Ramos.

Portugal thoroughly beaten in this second half.

Looks the US will go into the Spain game with a confidence boosting win against Portugal.

From what I can tell this will be the starting 11 against Spain with all players healthy:

------------Hernandez----------
Villarreal----------Gil---------Mario
-----------Trapp---Joya---------
Oce--------O'neill----Stanko-----Yedlin
--------------Cropper------------

Hopefully Gil's injury is not severe US needs him if they want a shot at getting out of the group. I still believe this team can do it

Great confidence booster for the U-20's but Gil leaving the pitch with a head injury is really distressing. Hopefully he will be 100% by the game 1 of the WC.

I hope this quiets some of the Toulon Tourney worriers. Adding those few people make a big difference. Gil is the engine to this team. Hopefully he's ok
