Another Chicago guy you know I support it, especially if Jürgen continues to play yedlin higher up the field. Chandler or Lichaj, I'm going with the hometown guy.

I've been calling for Lichaj for a while, no clue why he's never been given a look...

Outside backs are still an area of real concern within the USMNT. At RB our 2 best options (Fabian & Cameron) are actually better served at other positions that leaves us with a couple options that have question marks hanging over their heads:
Chandler - Can he ever become consistent across his Club & International play?
Yedlin - Still very young and prone to mistakes. Needs to continue to gain experience.
Payne - Very young and has not yet broken into his club rotation.
Soto - Not sold on his ability to step up to the international level.
Berry - Will he get a chance with the USMNT?
Lichaj - Hasn't really gotten a shot since JK became coach.
LB is an even bigger question mark:
Fabian - Better for the team to play him as a LM than LB/RB...at least for now.
Ream - Solid so far against CONCACAF opposition, but still a question about speed.
Shea - Questions about his ability to be a LB and provide consistent play.
Pelosi - I've liked his play with the U-23s, but still needs to prove himself.

you forgot Garza. Before injury he was looking like our LB to replace Beasly hopefully he can get back to that level.

Never cared for Garza's play. I feel he has many of the same issues as Ream but plays in a league which is not as competitive or physical. With the injury he sustained and the likely long road back to playing time....I just don't see him in the running anytime soon.

I agree about Yedlin. He should get some consistent minutes. Other than MLS camps he should be given the next 5-6 starts at RB(qualies and friendlies until Copa) to see if he can learn what it takes to be consistent at the international level. Its the perfect time to see how he does and out of all the guys listed as options, he's the only one that has any chance, besides Chandler if his head was on straight, of being an international starter for a good country. For us to hang with South American teams we need guys like him , AJ, Brook, sin the lineup and in form

lol liga mx isnt competitive? have to disagree will all except the injury remark. Before injury garza was looking like the LB option. Unlike ream he is a LB you cant compare ream and Garza because ream was never intended to be and LB but a CB. Looked good when healthy looked poor when injured (for obvious reason)

I completely forgot about Lichaj when thinking about LB options. Man of the match today while playing LB.

I've always liked him and was always angry and confused that he didn't get more opportunities...

Lichaj was captain today.

What's this guy got to do? Sail around the world? Climb Mt. Everest? Give him a couple of USMNT callups already. We don't have good LB/RB options.

I remember being annoyed that Bornstein got called up for the 2010 World Cup instead of Lichaj. He was an American that was actually playing for an EPL team.

Then I actually saw him play. He was a part of that spring of 2012 Aston Villa team that was the worst defensively in the history of the Premier League. They were allowing like four goals a game and he had a hard time getting off of the bench. Whenever he did play, he got badly exposed as being a player nowhere near EPL caliber, and would get relegated to the bench soon afterwards for some other defender to play a part in the embarrassing defeats that characterized that half of the season. A year later they didn't renew his contract and no one in the Premier League wanted him.

That's nice that he has become a Championship stalwart but that's as high as he'll make it. He's not a top-tier player. He offers nothing going forward and he can't defend. There are a several MLS fullbacks I'd pick above him.

The fact that people even complain about him not getting call-ups shows that they take their own opinions way too seriously. If we are complaining about some guy playing in the Championship who couldn't hack it in the Prem not getting call-ups, I'd say we don't have too much to worry about on that front.

I saw him in competition vs Yedlin, Yedlin had him turned a couple times and it wasn't on crafty moves, just simple start stop.

There is no comparison with Lichaj to Yedlin, Chandler. Yes even the guy who craps the bed for us.

We got rid of the system, or lack thereof, not the player, if the player maintains sucking, then yea it's time to get rid of Chandler.

Fullback is the weakest position across MLS. I'm interested to hear who you would you take above him?
