So since the Germany game I have gone full on play-off beard during this USMNT winning streak.

Anybody else have a superstition going right now during this USMNT run?

I wear my Dempsey jersey and usually drink. Recently I've had to work during the games so I haven't been able to entirely fulfill my rituals.

I have had to resume the no wash for Jozy's jersey as he is still scoring. Don't wash it until they don't score. And yes, that jersey was getting washed a lot before these last three games...

Haven't washed my centennial jersey since the Germany game. It's beginning to smell, but hey the karma is good right now.

I've started to notice that we struggle the nights that i have friends over to watch the games and we've done amazing the nights everyone can't make it and i end up watching the game solo. I haven't had to push my wife off the couch yet, but if she tries to join in next game i may have to.

Yeah I honestly don't like watching the games with people. Generally because people I know have no idea what they are talking about. And I hate that, especially if we are losing and they have something to say. I'll tell them to leave haha.

I like to watch games by myself as well. Not a superstition but I cannot handle watching a game that I'm passionate about with others or even worse at a sports bar. For me, watching a game at a sports bar or with others is solely reserved for a game that I only casually care about. For the Nats, I'd rather stay glued to my TV so that I can attentively track the important details like how well our wingers are getting back to defend. I don't need any distractions win or lose.

This is the same reason that I don't get tickets with American Outlaws or Sam's Army when going to US games. I went to one game through Sam's Army about 10 years ago and it was a fun experience as a one-off but nowadays I don't want to sing and dance, I just want to watch the game.

That's why I'd love to sit lower levels at an EPL game. I feel like most people in those seats are intensely focused on the game haha. (Obviously not just EPL, but I'm a Tottenham man and that's what I watch the most.)

I'm a loner too - it's amazing what other people say in the course of a game. I think this site is probably indicative of that too - knowledgable on the sport or not, people have differing opinions. The fun thing about living in a state not known for soccer (at all) has given me great examples of people who should probably just change the channel:

"He passed the ball backwards.....why did he do that?"

"Everybody's offsides!"

"Wait, you just told me he plays for a team in England. Then how does he play for the US?"

"I'm sorry, but why does he not just kick it in the goal?"

"If I were a keeper, I would catch it every time. Why are they just punching or slapping it away? It's not that hard - you just catch it."

"If they were real men, they wouldn't wear shinguards." - note, from a former football player who had numerous concussions.

And, the best I've ever heard - during the US - Algeria game moments after Donovan tapped in the winner:

"What if, right as he hit the ball in, he farted? If you were right there, would you let the moment of celebration take you in or would you just fall over laughing?"
Toffee Fan....for the moment

The next test for the Dooley-led revitalization of the Philippine national team kicks off soon.
