It seems like a really American thing to do to try to crunch numbers and apply stats to the game of football to make a point. I know what I've seen, and our team looks better with Zusi on the pitch than EJ. Perhaps EJ's scored a few more goals, but is that necessarily his role as a RM? Zusi is a better player all around. Put them both at Striker, and EJ wins the spot no doubt. At RM I'll stick with the guy who has a few tricks up his sleeve and plays defense. I'm not a huge fan of Zusi, but EJ has really looked weak the last couple times he got to play.

That's your opinion.

Whereas every other analyst as stated that EJ was pretty damn good against Panama.

But I am done arguing the case we will see what happens against Honduras.

Real American thing to do is to use stats? You do realize that all of the major leagues in Europe and teams use stats now to analyze their players?

Liverpool has used that as part of their transfer policy for quite a while, as has a few other clubs throughout Europe. Just because you watched Moneyball doesn't mean that started with Bean in America, it's been done before.

@Xolos

Yes I do watch LigaMX and I watched every single Xolos game these past two seasons. I suppose we will have to agree to disagree. I think he used to be a liability on defense. I think he is no longer. He isn't a great defender but he is fine and the rest of his talents and new maturity round him out.

And many newspapers and and analysts had him in the LigaMX bestXI numerous times. But like I said agree to disagree.

Im ready guys. This should be another USMNT win. Not as comfortable as Panama but a win. Gonna give you my lineup.

Jozy

Fabian-Dempsey-Zusi

Jones(if healthy otherwise Cameron)-Bradley

Castillo-Gonzalez-Besler-Evans

Howard

Seriously I have no idea on the left. Klinsy still might not trust Castillo in a big game like this. Maybe move Fabian back and put in EJ.

Judging by the interviews of the other players to MLS and ESPN it seems Castillo may start. They didn't say he would but they just talked about him the whole time when asked about the left back thing... So that's pretty telling when they ask "so what about the LB position?" ... "Oh we have Edgar... he'll be great bla bla bla".

So we'll see I guess.

The LB conundrum is curious - they'll have an inexperienced backline, especially in the center. We'll obviously want to exploit that, hopefully with the quick one-two's we saw against Panama. If we can swing that, Jozy & Deuce will have a field day. At the same time, they could also thrive on inswingers from the wings.

Where the LB comes in here is choosing someone who will advance up the field and take advantage of overlapping runs vs. someone who's a bit more conservative. Castillo's definitely the first kind, with Fabian being towards the average of the two. Cam is about in that average area as well as Parkhurst. I guess it depends on what kind of offense we run and who they put in on that ride side. Wouldn't mind giving Castillo a well deserved chance, but also wouldn't be suprised to see Cam here after his great performance last week. I honestly see JK sticking with EJ & Fabian, just because he tends to persist on the slightest success sometimes (EJ's goal).

I'd like Cameron to be a sub, as much as that pains me to say. Castillo hasn't produced well in the past, but against a weakened Honduras, and given his club form, I'd love to see another "attacking" left back put into the mix. It's been working for us. We can manage our defense. Evans hasn't been AMAZING at right back and we have survived. As long as Johnson can help Castillo out when he needs it, I think we'll be perfectly fine.

You can't bench Zusi at this point.

I will start FB at left back. Remember that Honduras is the one that is desperate for points. I would also consider putting Kyle in the middle to crow it for the H.

Agreed - he was too good at Jamaica. Finally established himself as a legitimate threat on the right side several times and made that picture perfect cross to Jozy. Until Donovan comes back into discussion, I'd say leave him there. I think he'll help Evans cover better as well.

It's a 4-2-3-1. EJ on the left wing. Should be alright with Honduras playing for a draw, but don't expect much from the left.

I think this shows how little confidence Klinsmann has in Castillo.
