I know no one wants to jinx us, but I am feeling more confident by the day. The fact that Mexico is struggling just improves my mood. We have now reached the half way mark, so I feel like its time to throw some predictions out there. I have the US beating Honduras, tieing costa rica, beating mexico, beating jamacia, and tieing Panama. here is my overall end of the hex predictions.

PREDICTIONS:
after 6 games: after 7 games after 8 games after 9 games 10 games
USA-13USA-14USA-17USA-20USA-21
CRC-11CRC-12CRC-12CRC-13CRC-16
Mex-8Mex-11Mex-11Mex-12 Hon-14
Hon-7Hon-7Hon-10Hon-11 Mex-12
Pan-6 Pan-7 Pan-7Pan-8 Pam-9
Jam-2Jam-3Jam-6 Jam-6 Jam-6
(I feel a mexico vs Panama game in the Azteca will be the game that decides everything for Mexico, since I see Costa Rica beating them at home.)

If we are already qualified prior to the october qualies (which your prediction says) then Id hope he'd play youngsters and we'll probably go 0-1-1 and end with 18 points. I dont care about coming in first in the region and hopefully neither does he. Its all about making it to Brazil and once thats goal is accomplished its about building the best team to succeed there

Intresting prediction personally I feel that mexico is treading water right now and is in a really really bad position. I actually think that by the end of confederations cup that de la torre will be fired and a new coach hired. However many people underestimate just how much mexico is running into problems with player personnel. Giovanni dos santos is playing pretty horribly right now when he is in the midfield other then chicarato the rest of mexicos strikers have been pretty woeful. Then the rest of the midfield isnt looking good at all. The defense has only looked good with corona. I think mexico is struggling with which veterans to keep and which young players to bring in.

Also I think the jamaica tie opened the floodgates no longer is the concacaf region scared of playing at the azteca the game is being played later in the day at night which gets rid of some of the heat and the pollution. Everything that could be going wrong for mexico is. If not for the goalkeeping of corona they could have lost a lot of the games that they drew in. He also helped them keep the win against jamaica. Its a problem of coaching and of player personell. I think a new coach gives the players confidence and allows him to pretty much retool and bring in some new players to the team and get rid of some of the veterans for good. Torrado,de nigris, rodriguez, and salcido should all be let go and some younger players and more skilled players be a part of the national team.

In the end the United States pretty much has first place in the hex locked up the only other way is if mexico in the next four games either goes undefeated or the united States drops a lot of points and costa rica end up first place in the hex. Both scenarios are highly unlikely and if the United States beats Honduras next tuesday the chances become even more slim of either of these scenarios.

This. Can you imagine if we play a regular starter in the last game and they pick up a second yellow card and have to serve their suspension in the first game of the world cup? That would be a disaster. I want to be in a position where the starters wont travel to Jamaica.

Knowing Klinsmann he'd probably play the starters anyway because "its a process"

I know a few things(or at least I pretend I do...)

1. Jamaica will finish last.
2. Panama(brutal road sched) will finish 5th.
3. The US will finish in the top 3(and will 99.99999%) go to Brazil.

4. The US will have a bump or two in the road....it could be Tues, in La Saprisa v. CR or at home v. Mexico..but I expect a rather negative result before we officially qualify.

In regards to Mexico....I still see them getting to Brazil and I believe 4 teams will go from CONCACAF to the WC as 4th has to play NZ(which is highly beatable.)

If the US qualifies early like against Costa Rica I don't forsee Klinsmann using any fringe players against Mexico.

He may use fringe players against Jamaica and Panama.

I could see Holden, Boyd, Corona etc.. getting starts against both Jamaica and Honduras if the US qualifies early.

well i had us beating jamacia due to the fact that we will have fringe players trying to prove themselves, and Jamacia's hope will be all but over by that time, and i dont think klinsy will have starters play if we have already qualified. the only time that would happen if we were qualified before playing mexico, which cant happen, so i think we will be fine with that.

Absolutely this team can be qualified before the Mexico game. If the US beats both Honduras and Costa Rica they will be on 16 points and that number will qualify the team.

Those sound about right although Mexico is a huge wild card right now. Doesn't seem that any team is the region is afraid of them anymore. As long as we qualify, IMO we should only have two goals

1) find the right 11 combination so that the team can be ready for Brazil; and
2) smoke mexico at home for pride and to let the world know we're ready

Beating Honduras, CR, Panama is nice but no team in the world will fear us for it. Smack Mexico around and it makes a statement.

The toughest game we have left is at Costa Rica. Last time we went down there they crushed us, and they just changed their venue to the same stadium after snowmaggedon since they were sour about the loss.

I think we lose to CR, tie Panama, and either tie or beat Mexico
