Hoyos I believe went the full 90 minutes for Estudiantes reserve team against Argentinos Juniors reserves on Monday. He scored a goal, and generally looked like a good attacking threat.

Why is this relevant? Well, Hoyos has said he is interested in repping the USMNT, and supposedly KLinsmann has been in touch with him. If he starts to get minutes in Estudiantes' first team again his name is worth keeping in the back of the mind.

Could he potentially be a Gold Cup call-up? I guess we will find out in a few months.

Some food for thought, Michael Hoyos best position is winger. Either side.

Off topic but I am really comfortable with our LW options going forward. Between EJ, Beasley and Fabian with Shea in the mix as well I think the LW should be covered. I dont think our style of play is running through the wings at all but I blame that more on the tactics than on the players.

We saw last night a few really nice crosses from EJ. We also saw Beasley weaving through the midfield on multiple occassions to push the ball forward which to me just reiterates why he should be a LW. These are two of the more positives of the game last night. Throw Fabian into the mix and I like our options.

The odds are heavily against Hoyos receiving any call up any time soon at any level, whether B or A-team

Anyone who is comfortable with any parts of the USMNT other than maybe Bradley, Fabian, Chandler, and Goalkeeper ought to have their head examined.

Agree, although I wouldnt put Chandler in that group yet (lets see him play in consecutive camps first)

Probably, but this next year will be interesting for Hoyos and possibly the USMNT especially if Hoyos starts to find minutes for Estudiantes first team.

There will always be few players that make a WC team that weren't apart of the WCQ process.

So true. Look at Herc, Buddle, and some others last cycle. I could totally see one of Yedlin, Gil, Villareal, Brooks go from 0 minutes of WCQ to Brazil. You could probably put JackMac, Pontius, COB, Gatt in that group too

You're right. The reverse applies as well, a la Connor Casey last WC cycle. I hope he does end up being on the team but the only reason I was saying he had a large mountain to climb was because as we all know he hasn't been the same player since his injury. If he can get the form back that had Argentina giving him looks at the national level then by all means sign him up, cap him and let that be that.

I hope Hoyos starts to make a name for himself in Argentina, but the odds are stacked against him..

Who else was frustrated with the team Bradley took to the World Cup? Lol

My main issue was with Findley starting... dude couldn't score for his life in friendlies, Buddle did quite well right before the Cup, but Bob loved Findleys speed and poor touch. He loved how Findley couldn't set up other players and how Findley ran the ball out of play over and over. It was truly shocking Findley didn't score a hattrick every game he played in the World Cup.. ughh that cost us goals.

Fabian is part of the reason I am comfortable at LW. We have some good options. Beasley has looked good pushing the ball forward but he we be more effective at LW and EJ has been playing well and made some nice runs and crosses against Belgium.

If the Fabian / Beasley / EJ / Shea option doesnt satisfy you, what exactly are you looking for at LW?

Bakerxyz, the inclusion of Chandler in your list is comical. Did you watch the Honduras game? What pary of his huffing and puffing inspired confidence in you? He has the talent to be the RB answer and will surely play better than he did against Honduras (it's not hard) but he certainly wouldn't top my list for players I'm most comfortable with. I dont think he's in the starting lineup when we're at full strength unless JK punishes Dolo for his time off like Donovan.

Michael Hoyos goes 80 minutes for his new team OFI Crete in a friendly 1-0 loss to ADO Den Hagg.

Reports say that he was really impressive in the first half, but should of had at least one goal.

It's a big year for him. He has recently stated that he wants to file his one-time allegiance switch from Argentina to the USA. Talented winger. I hope he has a good season, and who knows maybe he gets a look at from Klinsmann some time in the next 10 months.

I'm happy for him but he's been out of serious club soccer for more than 2 years. It'll take a long shot for him to get into the picture.

The Greek League isn't all that great (and there is a big drop-off after the big teams) and OFI is relegation fodder. They're a poor club. So it's tough for him.

As for the USA vs Argentina, of course the US will get him whenever they want him. He can't come out and say this publically since he's still on the books as an Argentine player but he knows as well as anyone that Argentine internationals don't play for teams like OFI. I

Sometimes a player has to go a bit backwards in order to going forward.

Yeah the Greek league isn't great, and yes he will probably struggle to make the USMNT before WC 2014, but hey this is soccer and anything can happen in a blink of an eye.
