I turned the channel when Zardes got subbed out. Im just glad I didnt see the crowd full of rainbow flags.

What pisses me off the most about this whole topic more attention was on his sexual preference than it was on the game.

The first time in a longtime ESPN showed highlights of an MLS game on sportscenter.

First, this was a dumb trade for LA. Making trades so players are "close" to home? These are not high school kids. Heck maybe Kobe should be traded to the sixers! IF Rogers gets back to where he was maybe it will be "even" but who makes deals on IFs when you have a proven player in Magee?

Second, did anyone else want to change channel during Sounders-Galaxy game if Asrian Healy mentioned what a "great" day was because Rodgers was back and first openly gay athlete

I would agree with you that the close to home is a little unprofessional. However magee has been a loyal servant for the galaxy and you wouldn't want one of your top goal scorers to be dissatisfied. It wasn't a good trade at this time since magee scores goals very effectively. However L.A. did play really well last night especially with Zardes so if any team can win the cup without magee its Los Angeles. Plus Rogers is more of a long term option albeit 2 years but lets see what he can do before it being a terrible trade.

A little bit but still it is the first openly gay athlete on the field. It is still something meaningful to the gay population and their families. While it didnt really affect me I can see why it would mean something to them. I mean personally I just want the best player on the field don't care if he is gay, straight, black, white, jewish, atheist, christian.

Players in pro sports pick cities they want to go to all the time for non-sports related issues. It doesn't matter if Rogers wants to come to LA to be close to his family or he wants to do Coke off of hookers' asses in Hollywood. Do you think Lando has actually stayed in LA for soccer reasons?

So wait are you saying Lando is doing coke off of hookers' asses? The life a pro player.

So that's why he wasn't called up....doing coke off of hookers' asses. Makes perfect sense. That or the Wayne Rooney hair transplant surgery was moved up.

Can't believe LA traded Magee. Hope it works out for both parties. I read a quote from Magee though that basically sounded like he volunteered himself to be traded so he could go home. Though right now Magee is a better player, Rogers opens a lot of doors and new markets for LA, along with all the media attention he is going to bring. It was shrewd business move, but could pay dividends since Rogers was a borderline National Team caliber player, while Magee has never really been too close to the program.
