mix will not be a DP player. Maybe Jozy if he comes, and Gareth Barry, Possibly Xavi Alonso.

You mean a better European league.

Right. Bad brain fart in my part. Wonder if Werder Bremen and Roma rumors were nothing but rumors. But NYCFC would be exceptional

What do you think about the two team thing RichieNY? Is this really going to work? And what of the Yankee Stadium years to come - I haven't been to the new one yet, always thought I'd be going to go see the White Sox there, not the Fire?? And what of potential sites, I've only been to New York a few times, but from what I've gathered, it's expensive (yes that was a joke), especially Manhattan. Wont be so cheap to get a stadium site, correct?

I can't imagine they're even considering Manhattan. I mean, Yankee and Shea Stadiums aren't in Manhattan so I don't know why NYCFC would be.

That what I'm getting at... believe me, I know Chicago is like 1/2 as expensive as New York, but it was so hard to get property at a good rate out here, the Fire are stuck playing in shitty Bridgeview. Not really a good site. I know New York is bigger and all that, but this will get costly quickly, right? Sort of why I'm putting out there for RichieNY, as I've only been to NYC myself three times.

Are the two teams you're talking about the Red Bulls and NYC? or Cosmos and NYC? Either way its great. We have three teams battling it out in this market. There is plenty of room, so I'm not worried about any of these teams losing steam. The NJ-NY thing is real. New Yorkers really dont like going to NJ. You can ask Ives Galarcep about it too. Its generally considered one market(NY-NJ-CT), but its very territorial. I read some of the Cosmos message boards and already they are out for NYCFCs head.

Yankee stadium will be fine for a few years, I have no issue with it. The dimensions are actually not bad for fitting a soccer field. The only problem area will be the 3rd base line heading towards home plate. There are GREAT bars across the street from that stadium. Subway access is simple.

As ideal as it sounds, I highly doubt they are going to build a stadium in Manhattan, there really isnt much room. There is a potential site a couple blocks from Yankee Stadium that looks good. This is from an ESPN article written a couple weeks ago:

"According to the report, Yankees president, Randy Levine, said last August that the team was in talks over a nine-acre parcel between the Major Deegan Expressway and East 153rd Street that could accommodate a 25,000-to-30,000-seat stadium with connections to subways and rail lines."

My guess is they want to build in either the Bronx or Manhattan. You lose some "city" appeal if you go to Queens and Brooklyn and all of it if you go to Staten Island. Of course anywhere they build, it will be expensive and the process will be long and complicated.

I always assumed there was a big difference between NJ and NY-- Jersey really is its own soccer hotbed from what I understand. Jason Kreis' comments resonated with me and I'm not even from there nor have any rooting interest.

That last paragraph you put there is what I was looking for. I've spent time in several of the different boroughs and each had its own feel.... Kreis' comment about being a "city" team carries with it certain expensive connotations like you said. I'm looking forward to it, as its a hell of a job getting the Red Bulls if I want to see the Fire in metro area, the Bronx and Manhattan are real easy for travellers staying in the city, because lets be honest, who wants to spend the rest of the weekend hitting the Hoboken scene?

Not bad for ticket sales, and advertising. He will be 33 at the start of next season. 3 years seems a bit to much considering MLS only allows 3 DP slots. They will only have 2 left so they better use it on younger players. I think if they can Get Zlatan also it would be Huge for MLS and nycfc. And Kompany would be a good signing also.

According to the daily mail, Gooch is trying to find a club in England but the article contained this quote:

If I had to play for an MLS team then first choice would be to come back home and play for DC United and after that one of the two New York teams or the Miami team. East Coast.

First Thought: You don't "have to play for an MLS team" you can sign with a European team, retire, etc. I don't like this attitude that collecting a pay check from the MLS would be such a burden.

Second Thought: He would be a huge upgrade for DC United and I would forgive his stupid quote above if he comes back home.

Third Thought: Miami? Aren't they expected to join the league in 2017? Why would they want a 35 year old Onyewu? I'd be surprised if Gooch is still able to contribute in three years. Similar comment about NYCFC, Gooch needs to join a club now. Singing a 33 year old who has been out of contract for a year isn't an appealing prospect.
